What does BSI mean when we say 100 BSI ect in connection with royal mail?

Sorry for not being clear but what does BSI mean? We all know it is a way to beat us by RM and we are all frightened by it but no-one seems to know what the initials mean.

Running IWT at BSI 100 has ripped hours out of offices, the total must be phenomenal and as you say is a major factor
in subsequent job losses.

Bob Gibson says its not agreed,well it should have been! ACAS apparently recommended BSI 75
so we can only blame our negotiators as to why they couldnt get agreement on the ACAS figure.

To leave this to Local agreement with so many hours and jobs at risk is unforgivable.
and as the Bible of vague agreements says- the meak/weak and the plain daft shall inherit a shite office.

British Standards institute would seem to be what it means although so far we are still not sure? Admins on RMC don’t know (not a criticism) my branch don’t know! Why are we being beaten with an un agreed tool? Why no CWU agreement that costs us thousands of jobs? ARE WE THAT STUPID to take this? WHAT UNION ALLOWS THOUSANDS OF JOB CUTS THROUGH BSI WHEN WE DONT KNOW WHO WHERE OR WHY THIS IS HAPPENING!
Get a grip Union members just ask the damn question to your manager and REP, ask to see the agreement that allows any BSI, FFS and start asking your cluster DOM, Branch and area REP and upwards till you get to the CEO and DGS Postal section and even Billy Hayes.

I think what he means is that the old one minute test values would have to be maintained 100% of the time.
That's why he picked those figures.
The real worry with BSI is that it is not a concrete figure....it is an ethos and one which any right thinking union would avoid if possible.
The ethos that a working man or woman can be thought of as a production machine that can be made more efficient simply by the use of incentivisation.
In Royal Mail the incentive is the stick....or the door.

True FT, they have taken those figures and are using them to drive out hours indoor (because they can't get outside hours) but the problems arise when they can't get the work to us to be able to prep for 100% of the time RM really need to think about those figures (and ensure if they are coming in the everybody has to work to the same standard).
