was at a door at 7.25am today(sat) with a tracked packet and the customer had a right go at me, his wife went to open the door but he brushed past her and proceeded to tell me I should'nt be calling at this time, he was right abusive, so I called it straight in to my manager, when I got back, my manager told me he said I had given him verbals, I was quite proud of the way I behaved(like an altar boy) and am still raging at the lies he told, hope I win the lottery tonight, cos I will take him the whole road!!! he now told my manager he does'nt want a delivery untill 8am...... 30 mins later!!! and I suffered all that abuse for 30mins, still raging!!!!

He can't demand a change to his delivery time (unless he pays for a timed delivery), if your manager wants to deliver it then so be it but you just deliver it as per the delivery route.

I know, my managers just trying to keep the peace, but if everyone done what this guy has done, we would not be able to cope!! suffice to say I am refusing to deliver to this address anymore!!!

I'd make sure the next parcel I had to deliver to a cretin like that would be at 7am on the dot

You do get this every now and then

You should not have to suffer this however. Put it in writting, try to remember what was said (swearing etc) then on monday present it to your manager and ask that he pay the customer a visit to explain the delivery charter, ie: he has no right to choose a time. If the dom refuses then i would say your within your rights to refuse to deliver to the address until a proper personal risk assement has been carried out. I would also get your rep up to speed.

We did have a very good manager who would bother to travel out to sort out complaints and this normally sorted the problem.

P739 every packet his address gets from now onwards. Write them out before you leave the office, then give his door the lightest of light knocks just to cover yourself before posting the P739. If he or his wife is one of those cretins who seem unable to dodge a 'buy it now' button, he'll soon see the error of his ways

Went to a door this morning about 10.30 with a recorded packet. A young boy about 5 or 6 answered the door. I asked,

"Is your mum or dad in?"
"My dad's in".
"Is he in bed?"
"No, he's in the living-room"
"Ok, Could you ask him to come to the door please"
"Ok"

The kid goes away for a couple of minutes and I hear him and his father talking. Then he comes back,

"He doesn't want to get off the couch".
"Ok", I write out 739, "Give him this then, bye"

I never manage to start delivering til 9am on saturdays now so fortunately I don't have this problem of being "too early" for the customers!

drivers in our office work till their time now, we dely, all specials!!!! all track and trace, all bags, and I myself do a two hour firms run, if us drivers did not get out at seven am, we could not complete, we do not sometimes at the end of the week, the packets fail.

Interesting.... aren't all/most firms shut on a Saturday? if you having trouble completing then whats the rest of the week like?

same in our office,used to leave at 8am until the tracked items hit the roof,need to be knocking on doors bang on 7am to stand a chance of completing,even then usually fail a couple of times a week,normally wed/thurs.
