This is it. Today was my final day with RM. The end of the line. I am now a free man.
Funnily enough, I find that I'm feeling a little ambivalent about it. Yes, I'm glad to be out. I wont have to put up with the craziness that surrounds the job anymore. but on the other hand I am no longer part of that proud band of brothers who call ourselves Posties.
We've been through a lot together these past 22 years. We've stood on picket lines in the wind and rain for what we believe in. We've helped each other out when we've been struggling. We've shared our local knowledge and experience. We've taken the mick out of each other without mercy and without malice. But not any more.
When one door shuts, another door opens. What is going to be through that open door I have no idea. Life is what you make it, I'm not the kind of guy to just sit around and mope. Life goes on.
What I do know however is this: I will always look back on my time in RM with fondness and pride.

I staged a Roger Moore impersonator festival in my local village. There were a lot of eyebrows raised, I can tell you.

At least you have the satisfaction of knowing that the job
didnt break your spirit.
As hard as this jobs become, it took an illness to stop you!
Ive heard injuries often respond well to the "normal" activity outside of RM.
I hope you continue to log in occasional.

I still get up early even though I'm a man of leisure these days...old habits taking time to go,although enjoy going to bed late if I want is a bonus.

Given the current culture of Royal Mail and their management style I would not be surprised if your manager was on the phone to Moya saying only 39,999 to go now boss
