park & loop info needed ?

our office is having a planner in about 6 weeks time for our park and loop yippee really looking forward to it NOT.i am after as much info as possible to make sure we dont get conned/shafted by our beloved management team.of the top of my head a few questions,has everybody in the office got to be trained up for driving,are 1 sat of in 3 an option along with 9 day fortnights etc,do both drivers have a duty each to deliver or 1 duty.what about holidays do you both have the same day off etc.i am really rusty about this park and loop,so as much info as poss will be appreciated guys and gals.

Are you the Rep that has to negotiate this? Or just an interested party?

no everyone does not have to be driver. There should be non driving dutys for postman who can not drive it gets complicated when drivers want to sign for non driving dutys though.you should get a choice of shift patterns but they all affect your delivery span though so you want to watch that.at our office no two postman working together do not get the same day off the holidays should not matter though. good luck though are park and loop was a total f#### up we are still fixing it now thats nine months later.dont think we saved a penny in our office looks like will we are going to get 100 hours back in made my day though

If you are the rep for your office, i think some of questions you will have to raise with your dom and office about this.

It all comes down to this, it all depends if your office wants a one saturday off in 3, so a ballot will be in force.

P&L will be one person driving and the other a non-driver. But if both can drive then it helps a little. Days off might be the same as the partner your working with. No matter what you say or mention to the planner about a duty being too big, he/she won't listen and will carry on regardless. The software that the planners have been using over the years are bogus and are not true to the everyday work load that you will be managing. Your office at the end of it might get some duties to work, but the majority will fail.

no i am just a postie on 36 hrs a week ,oim prob more interested than our rep

Drop your pants,bend over and be prepared to receive incoming You will get to see a nice video how to perform P&L.Be given completely un realistic times to sort and prep and deliver.Oh yes find the best comfortable shoes you can lay your hands on cos you will walk so far it hurts!!!Keep us informed of progress or more likely lack of progress!!!

One bit of advice.
Use your trolly all the time and take your meal breaks.No matter how tempted you may be to throw the bag over the shoulder and run round dont.
In our office we have people not using trollys and not having meal breaks.
The management have watching what time they are returning to the office and are now trying to impliment walk collapsing again.

if we are to be sent out for 4 or 5 hours what is the health and safety aspect of this in the hot weather as no toilets = no drink

Stay in the shade as much as possible and drink plenty of fluids.
