Before 1pm

Had a Special Delivery for my duty this morning...It was for the end of my walk so i told my line manager i would not be there before 1pm...Procedure is the driver will take it usually but not today as he said he would need overtime for his own delivery...So here is the crazy thing they make me go out with the DRIVER so i can deliver it before i start my own walk....plain nuts if you ask me. :crazy:

i reckon they do things like that just to pee you off,,,and hopefully next time you wont ask and just run on ya way and not bother them.

were told to go there 1st,,,,then back track

I think it was quite a clever use of Royal Mail resources, personally. Here's another good one for you. Special Delivery, one of RM's premier products, is guaranteed before 1pm. To help you achieve this, Royal Mail is giving you more of the bloody things to deliver, and sending you out later. More into less is more.

All SDs are taken by drivers at my place. If it looks like we might not make it we're supposed to drop everything to get there by 1.
I staged a Roger Moore impersonator festival in my local village. There were a lot of eyebrows raised, I can tell you.

dont you all just scan them as no answer and then get them to sign on the old style bit of paper if you no you wont make it in time or is that just me :cuppa

We just get told to swap the delivery route around to make sure you can deliver it by 1pm. :left:
If that is not possible then it goes on a driver. :roll:

We are told to change the route if there is Specials at the end. The P & L duties end up having to deliver the Specials and Tracked first.

Your "rights" are to work as directed.
The specification for Special deliveries is that delivery should be attempted before 1pm.
If this means them having to go to a driver - fine.
If it means deviating from your route to ensure it - then do so but inform your manager that you are doing this. If this will involve you going over your contracted hours then decide if you want the o/t or cut off.
If he decides to send you out in a van before your delivery then fine. If this will involve you going over your contracted hours then either claim the o/t or cut off.

Thing is why do "you" have to go out with the driver to deliver the special ? It makes no sense two people going out :hmmmm

enzo by doing that you not only risk the chance of getting suspended you also let them know things can be done in the time when you obviously cannot, so let them deal with it.
