If you think about it,you'll be working 40 hours this week while your colleagues will only work 32 = 8 hours docket for you.

Had this conversation with my acting dom seems that it is a very grey area that some of us are getting away with, and others can't get......all I know for sure is that you should be able to take your day off at the earliest opportunity after bank holiday, so think that giving people option stops loads of staff asking for day off asap........try that argument.......good luck!Spartacus wrote:disgruntledpostie1 wrote:Are you sure because I'll be bringing this up with my DUM in the morningpistol wrote:You can choose between a day in lieu or 8 hrs enhanced docket.

How about this, then ? Me and some others at my office work Tuesday - Friday or Tuesday - Saturday shifts, so Monday is a rest day for those of us on those shifts. When a bank holiday falls on a Monday (as at least 4 of them do every year), local custom is that we take the Tuesday off, or work overtime on what is in effect our day off in lieu.pilsbury wrote:I can't believe how we all seem to work by different rules
A couple of years ago, Xmas day and Boxing Day fell on Sunday and Monday, so those of us on these duties expected to be able to take the Wednesday off, as everyone else had Monday and Tuesday off (those being the official Bank Holiday days). The line manager had other ideas though. He said we would be likely to be extremely busy, so he was going to use the 'Way Forward' agreement to force us to come in that day, and credit us with a day's leave. This actually suited me, so I asked about the arrangements for the Wednesday after new year, when everyone else had a public holiday on Tuesday and we would expect to be off on Wednesday. I asked the line manager
"Can I come in on that Wednesday and be credited a day's leave ?"
"Not really" he says "we don't expect to be busy on that day, so we don't need you in"
"So, what you're saying is you can use the Way Forward agreement to shorten my Xmas break and bung me a day's leave, but when I want to use that same agreement to work my day off and thus boost my leave entitlement, you won't let me ? Either we stick to the principles of that agreement, or we don't - you can't invoke it only when it suits you"
Anyhow, the upshot of much heated argument is that those of us on those duties now have three choices tomorrow
1. take the day off
2. go in and work overtime
3. go in but have a day added back to our leave entitlement
