Can anyone point me in the right direction, in respect of Fathers rights/agreements to attend antenatal scans.

I've searched through several documents and can't find what I'm looking for.

WHAT THE LAW SAYS
Fathers do not have a legal right to time off to accompany their partners to antenatal appointments as the right to paid time off only applies to pregnant employees
However, a father’s involvement with his child starts before the birth and many men will want to be at some of the antenatal appointments to support their partner and to find out what is happening with their baby. Many employers recognise how important a time this is and let their employees either take paid time off or make up the time later.

This is why the Government is keen to encourage employers to let expectant fathers take time off to attend antenatal appointments without losing any pay

Now as far as i'm aware Royal Mail is still owned by the Government so it would be very embarrassing if there own "people" were ignoring there own people's guidance.....

As always fishtanks guidance is spot on, a decent DOM, or at least a DOM that you have a decent relationship with would let you attend a scan and ask you to make the time up to him.

Thanks everyone.Manager said it was no problem and he could swap his day off or use one of his odd days

Also told me our four temporary contracts were getting permanent contracts,and we were recruiting another three staff.Why do I get suspicious when we get good news.
