i have been doing the same duty for 2 years now (part time 35 hours , split shift) , but always felt that the duty was longer than the 35 hours , (the actual time to do mail,and collection) , i have since checked the hours av 5 hours per day ( we do long and shorts so had to work out time for each day ) plus the 2 and a half for the collection.
Did speak to manager about it and showed him this over the course of a week , was told had to do it over a six week span as to include days off ect , have done this and found that over a 6 week period as he said , the duty averages out to 36 hours 40 min a week.!! should i have my contracted hours increased to cover this , and as i have been doing this for 2 years , could i get any back money for the hour and 40 mins ive been working over and not getting paid for as they havnt bothered to make sure the duty times were right.!!??
and on another note ,! someone mentioned that i maybe entitled to a split shift allowance , any truth in this?

didnt know i was going over , till i actually sat down and worked it out , i got the duty , they told me it was a 35 hour duty , mail delivery morn/early afternoon + final collection late afternoon .

So let me get this straight.
You've been working 36 hrs 40mins on a 35hr contract for 2 years and not claiming the 1hr 40mins.
Don't take this the wrong way but 2 years is a long time not to notice.

i know , but ive been doing s**t loads of overtime as well , in early to do 2 and 3 preps most days , so it gets lost amongst it all.!! just got the feeling i was getting shafted so sat down and worked it all out , cause of diff start times every day , and was sure i was getting shafted on overtime claimed.!!
