I completed the questionnaire about the menu of options yesterday and one question asked if I would like to do more hours if I could and if so how many.
I currently do 22.5 per week (4.5 per day) so wondered whether they would get me to do an extra delivery or maybe sorting if I chose to do 6 or 7 hours a day bearing in mind I have to travel a fair distance to work so wondered by increasing my hours would it be more cost effective or should I do same hours and work full days but only doing 3 or 4 days a week? What are your thoughts? Please advise

Re: Going from part time to full time?
We're going through a Re-Sign at the moment. They should be done on Seniority, so once the list of available Duties goes up the most senior Postie picks his and then so on down the list.
If it gets to you and you have a chance to increase your contracted hour I'd go for it, because you'll get those "Extra" hours when your on Holiday or Sick.
It'll also give you a bit more with Pensions, Pro-Rata Payments etc. HOWEVER we've been told that these New Duties will only be on a Temporary Basis, until the whole of our Region has had their Revisions. We assume this means waiting to find out if any Offices have to "Lose" Duties.
Anyone in Nearby Offices (no idea what sort of Distances we're talking about) that has "Lost" their Duty will be offered an Alternative Duty in another Nearby (?) Office. This might mean that if, for example you manage to get a 33hr contract, and feel pretty chuffed, someone whose lost their 33hr Duty down the road can move to your office and "Kick" you off your New Temporary Duty!
No idea what the likely-hood of that it...it might happen..... but then they might drop a bomb on us tomorrow!
Our Part-Time Duties of 24 hours, have been Arranged so they're 3 days of 8 hours. This might be a better deal for you as it'll save on your traveling costs. If you haven't got a lot of seniority you'll probably just have to take one of the duties at the bottom of the list, as Countryboy say, but you never know we had a few surprises on the Re-Sign!
Good Luck
