Yes I think its being engineered by a Cabal within RM who are pro-privatisation.

But, and here is the clincher, even though we are being pushed inexorably toward a strike, what other choice do we have.

If we don't strike our terms and conditions will be a lot worse than they are. If we do we'll be portrayed as Union dinosaurs trying to stop modernisation and keeping our nests feathered (mines pretty bare though)

i know we will go on stike, i also think we should all be on stike, with all london postal workers. we are all in this together. like it or not, this is one were we all got too stand together. if royal mail get away with what they want in london. GOD HELP THE REST OF THE COUNTRY. they have have taken all most everything off us, d2d payments, c/shares, ect and they still want more. if royal mail want too move the goal posts all the time, we as postal workers should just say.. ok we are not going to do all the the new way of working ie p&l d2d for nowt. lapsing ect untill our employers keep to what they wanted us too do as part of the 2010 agreement. royal mail are now taking the p**s out of us all

what is the union upto 6 weeks ago at a area reps meeting my area told the union that was not a hope in this world that this area would strike again but we would work to rule with out qustion my members have told more then once that after the last agreement what was the point of a union their just screwed us over.that said the same members start 40 minutes early and take d2ds home dont take breaks and run round their rounds how can we win with this going on and ive talked till iam blue in the face but it still goes on

I believe we're heading for a ballot, simply because of the London MC situation. If it's a "YES" vote then I'll be out on strike. To me it's simple I get my vote all my colleagues get theirs. Majority rules! I believe in the Democratic system, what's left?...Him that shouts the loudest Wins? i just hope that everyone "Bothers" to vote, perhaps before a ballot the CWU should have a bid recruiting drive and Make sure everyone votes.

I agree with Martinapsid, too many dickheads bucking the system, It's counter-productive, and gives the Impression that IA has no effect. IMHO I believe a "Work properly" campaign would be much more effective, and cost posties less! Perhaps Unit and Area Reps would really have to get out and about and "Talk" to their members, prior to any action, and explain what they aim to do.

Yeah I know.....we'd still have the same Dickheads coming in early...Running...Using Cars...etc. Why do you think Management come down so heavily on anyone having a go at their "Colleagues" for such practices? I was threatened with "Disciplinary Action" during the last IA for simply trying to point out the rights and wrongs of the situation to a fellow Postie. he hadn't even complained , the DIM just happened to "Over hear" me!.

I voted yes the last two time but I'm defiantly voting no this time. I'd rather our working conditions were slowly eroded than just given away by the union. Nobody thinks the last two deals were any good, even if they were 'the best we could get' and most people even doubt it RM will stick to them anyway. I'm also certain that when we are sold in the very near future all deals will be voided anyway.

You're entitled to your opinion Spedley, that's what democracy's about. I appreciate what you're saying.. However years ago, in another life, we were trying to get Union Representation (in a Non-Union Company) the visiting union Rep said that, "In any Company that had an 80% Union membership there had never been the need to have a strike!" Got me thinking and it makes sense.

I believe the CWU have missed a trick, in that they never really "talk" to their membership to ask them what they think! And I believe they take their Membership for granted, once they've got your subs! They should be like politicians.."Canvassing" all the Mail centres and Delivery offices Before they plan anything. How embarrassing must that be to stand up before RM Management to say, "All my members will be out on strike at the drop of a hat", have the ballot and find that 25% can't even be bothered to tick the box!
