hello all
this is my first post my question is
i have been suspended since 7th may for gross misconduct of healh and
and safety
i dont want to go into details but in that time i have had no information since the fact finding interview with my line manager,apart from the notes and two letters telling me i would remain suspended the last one dated 17 may, from anyone management or cwu,in fact i dont even know who is dealing with the case.
my office manager has been on leave and the cwu at confrence.got a call yesterday from the cwu to say he had heard nothing.
so my question is
how long can they keep me suspended ?and have they (management) not an obligation to keep me FULLY informed of the progress,the ib are not involved with this case ,

Suspension from work
While the disciplinary or dismissal issue is being looked into, your employer may be able to suspend you. You should be told why you are being suspended.
If your employment contract allows you to be suspended without pay, your employer can do so, so long as they are acting reasonably. If your employment contract does not say that your employer can do this, your employer may still be able to suspend you, but with pay. To make it clear that this isn't a punishment, the suspension will be on full pay in most cases.
You keep your employment rights while suspended. If you don't get the right pay you may be able to make a claim to an Employment Tribunal for 'unlawful deduction from wages'.
While suspended, you may be told not to talk to other employees, customers and/or suppliers. If this stops you defending yourself, it may be grounds for appeal. It is up to you whether you listen to this but your employer may take further disciplinary action if you don't

have just got a phone call from cwu rep asking if i have had a letter telling me to attend a meeting with dom today.
told him i have recieved no such letter
but i am willing to attend
is this a breach of procedure on doms part ?

Yes , if you are suspended and are called for a meeting by letter it should be sent out by special delivery so your DOM knows you have received it.

well went for meeting with dom and it was ajourned after 5 mins,he showd me a copy of a letter and asked me have you received this letter to which my reply was no sir this is the first time i have seen it.oh and still no letter informing me of the meeting today !
so new meeting arranged for monday.so the story continues.

Seriously, does this involve just yourself or are others involved? From what I've seen RM tend to be much harder on people that do things that effect others than just themselves.
