We go live with P&L in two weeks, but it has been decided to get rid of a duty in our district. They had us up for an early learning session about it today. The management had finally conceeded that the trolleys are not useable in our district because we deliver to a rough arsed estate where the scuffers would grab them the minute the postie's back is turned. So I asked if each fitting would be rewritten so that the loops would be small and nobody would be carrying heavy bags. The manager said not and it would be up to each pairing to decide how to bundle the walks. I pointed out that it was alright for the duty holders but anybody covering who had not done it before would struggle. To my surprise some of my colleagues took the manager's side and said they would easily manage once they got used to them, and I was shot down before I'd made my point.
My attitude is that anybody should be able to go onto any duty and when bundling pull it out without having to take a bit from here, a bit from there and another bit from down there for each bag to get the order right. It is almost guaranteed some poor bastard somewhere down the line will end up in the sh*t because of this.
Should I raise the matter again more forcefully or just not bother. I simply cannot believe how some of my colleagues just don't get how the thing is supposed to work, no weight on the shoulder and no struggling to prep and bundle up.

That's a lame piss poor excuse to load you up with bags and send you out on stupidly long deliveries.
Every city and town in the country has at least one rough arsed estate,some are just complete rough arsed towns.
Where in the revision docs does it state that you can't have the proper delivery methods if you live in scumville?
It was us who pointed out the dangers of using the trolleys, someone tested part of a walk in the estate using a trolley and within 5 minutes he had been told if he turned his back they'd have it. My argument is if we are still using bags the walks should be rewritten in small loops/sections to keep the weight off our shoulders. The manager said no, it was up to us to bag up how we saw fit. If somebody is plonked on a walk they've never done before and their partner is not used to the duty how the hell are they supposed to know how to bag it up if the thing isn't in the right order on the frame? If they get it wrong and can't complete they are the ones who'll get all the grief.
It's always the same in our office, any revision that has been brought in has been done half-arsed by the managers (ie no account of where bag drops are or if any more are needed), and it is left to us to make the best of a bad job. I just wanted everyone to put their foot down and say let's get the thing right BEFORE it comes in. Based on previous experience if we don't and there are problems nothing will be done and we are the ones that will get all the flak. Doesn't bother me as I'm big enough and nasty enough to make a manager back down but there are some who fall for the threats and bullying routine.

Because they took out a driving duty and tagged bits of it onto the walks without rewriting them. Also there are some walks that have new builds on them that have not even had the new builds put onto the frames at all. One duty has a full street missing, the postie puts that mail to one side and sequences it by hand. It seems it is too much trouble for the managers to acualy do thir job properly.

I'm going assume that if your using trolleys in rough estates your going to spend a lot of time locking the trolley against theft. Is this included in revisions?????
