National Agreement 20 knock-ons per round of 500

This weeks WTL we discussed the P&L and had a RM projector on detailling the National Agreement for various aspects. One was that for each round of 500 houses(for example) that the maximum calls/knock ons for specials/packets is 20. Any more items can be handed over to a Line Manger which is a result cos i regularly get aprox 8 signed fors and loads of packets.



Although this seems to only apply if the round takes you to your finishing time/ or over.

aye geo route only takes into account 20 attendance calls.

Been told this today.
Dont have p and l yet but very soon the rounds are horrendous ,we regularly go over 20 calls a day now let alone when the new rounds come in.

As usual the Planners have no idea about Planning a walk in real life only on a Lap top!

What about walks that include shops and houses, is it still 20 per 500?
Should the lino be informed regardlesss if there are more than 20 calls per 500, even if you think you might still complete on time (due to low call rate), or if you are happy to complete by booking o/t?
Does this mean "excess attendence calls" becomes a new cause to put on the pressure docket sheet?

A while back we had a week of recording attendence calls for oversize packets, specials and recorded, with a ~9.5% rate on the worst day and 4.6% on the easiest day.... Not much over this "national agreement" rate of 4% then!

apparently your not supposed to carry more than 8 high value regs a day and if your walk gets more than 35 regs in a week it has to be risk assessed !!

We had another count recently which was rejected in favour of the national average because we had too many.

I have almost exactly 500 DPs and counted my attendance calls over a two week period about a year ago. Lightest was 25 on a monday and heaviest was 79 on a friday with the average over the two weeks being 48. 4% my arse!

A couple of the walks I cover are in old towns with a lot of tiny letterboxes. I often have to knock as a magazine or DVD is too large to fit. I even have a couple of customers who rent DVD's from LoveFilm and they don't fit though their letterboxes!

Lunacy aside, I can't remember the size of each houses letterbox, so don't know in advance which or how many, houses I'll be knocking on.

Is it just a rough guide? Do you include everything in your packet bag, or just 'quite big' stuff like shoes and plants, not DVD's and magazines?

We had a count a while ago, but the results were worthless. I had 100 items on an easy day, duty holder on the friday had 12. He either just counted signed fors, or just shoe box sized (which I don't take anymore, I give to the driver).

And if a listed building or in a conservation area they might not be able to replace the letter box with a larger one.

Know what you mean Newpostie I regularly have to 739 DVDs! WTF! Management don't really give a s**t! provided they get you out of the door then they can go home.

Parcels and packets are up up up..! Look back to when the mail (letter) volumes were at a all time high - pre internet (ebay) now look at the present and the future, mail volumes still high but parcels and packets have hit an absolute 350 year historical all time high.
Please can someone anyone name a point in history over the last 350 years when the postman was delivering so many ''non letter' items (ie parcels, packets, tracked, recorded, specials... etc etc etc..... on a average daily basis thoughout the week its double the agreement 40 + the question is when will modernisation catch up up up with the postman..... p.s how are my shares doing??????

How the f**k can we have a "national agreement" on number of packets/attendance calls. Even in my office some walks get 2-3 times as much as others!
