Repick and contracted hours!

Just wondering if anyone knew whether during a repick, one can change your contracted hours?
For instance, could I pick 30 hours duty, if I am on 40 hours now? Also, could I pick a 40 hour duty, even though I was on 25 hours now?

theres probably going to be no 40 hr duty to pick as they will be taken by full timers in the repick . its down to management for buy downs or upgrades see the cwu rep good luck

Just remember SENIORITY DOES COUNT we've just proved it! You should have a list of available duties; Start at the top with Senior Postie No1and work your way down. If you "Want" to reduce your hours that shouldn't be a problem, it's YOUR choice don't expect any "Buy Down".

If your 39 hour duty then becomes available and the next senior Postie is on 25 hrs he CAN sign for it. DO NOT EXCEPT the Bullshit Management Argument that because some one has 33 hrs they are "Closer" to the advertised Duty, even though they are not as Senior!

They tried the old, "It's a local Agreement Argument" we said Bollocks (more like Favouritism) try abiding by "National Agreements"!

Next stage is then usually, "These Re-signs are only Temporary if some one from a nearby Office is due for Redundancy he may well "Bump" you of your newly signed for duty"! I realise there is that option within the revision process but we're not sure how likely that is. How long is a piece of string? Too many variables at the moment.

Anyone know if there's a limit to the distance RM can expect you to "Re-Locate"? From what distance can we expect these "Redundees" to travel from?

were just going through a re pick soon but trying to get the union involved,full timers are ok ,its the part timers who are going to suffer ,im on 36 hrs a week ,work longer hours than full timers,go over most days totally fed up,and guess what they now want me to deliver parcels and tracked items from a van,im currently using a bike,all i want is to work approx my 36 hrs per week im fairly senior so will prob keep my duty,told the dom my hours are wrong,but guess what he makes excuses up all the time.HAVE NOW DECIDED AFTER RE PICK WORKING TO MY FINISH TIME,just wondering if i do this will he put me on other duties if so i will just have to grin and bear it.

Why should'nt you have to deliver parcels/tracked? the rest of us have to. If you had been working to your time in the first place you would'nt be asking this question now. How about starting to work you hours from tomorrow, if you have to cut off so be it. Why are the part-timers going to suffer? we are all on the same sinking ship whether full or part time, do your hours and go home

Why is is the same people always seem to disappear into the Office for a quick chat, Normally when it's a manic day, and re-emerge with a big smile on their faces? Then the DIM emerges and says, "Joe's got to get away early today...anyone want some OT to take his/her last couple of bags out"? Fair enough if it works for everyone, they're only "Working to their time" but it only seems to work for some. Everyone else gets a bit of H & B.

I s**t you not I've seen the DIM blowing up the tyres on one of the Girls bikes with a hand pump before now, I actually said to him, "What are you you doing that for it's not your job, she should do it herself!".... "You know what she's like..." was his reply. I must admit to being gobsmacked!

Not having a Dig at you Stormproof, The "F" word is "Favouritism" NOT "Female". The example I gave simply had a girl in it. The law of averages says there's bound to be more Male Posties trying it on, than Female simply because there's more of them. Our worst offender is Male!
