well we are a P&L office
have been for about 2 years
it doesnt work
regular failures,lapsing for the world.,B&H and docket galore(for those that do it ;)

so we have our 2010 revision being planned(as it has been for months) and now they say P&L doesnt work
now we are having 2 in a van but not P&L
one is a walker and will have a duty around 4-4.5 hours
one is a driver doing bag drops,large packets,businesses + a walk of 3-3.5 hours

having seen some of the proposed duties,I can see monsters and duties that are too short
Im having nothnig to do with it
Told them I will take any duty they like,dont care how the do the resign(either one office or split over the 3 postcodes) and I'll be working my hours

ant others offices done/doing this type of P&L?

Still trying to get the 1st Poop & Scoop up and running Custard. Yours sounds like a bloody nightmare! So your P&L "never" worked and you're still working like the good Old days? Perhaps that's a warning for all of us!

My walk runs from 4hrs Sat/tue to 4hr 30min the rest of the week. Cant see how it can get any worse

we already have walks like that,except these are the ones the computer says are 3.5 hours and achievble

Same in our office, although most of the really screwed up walks now have a van per person and overtime is given to people to come in during the night and work on the IPS so there is no IPS sorting.

Overtime and casual labour, Vans and fuel, still trying to work out where these miraculous savings are being made?

We've only had 1 section come in so far and its been a nightmare, 4 yorks of large pkts on some of the duties and no chance of ever getting them done. The planners are in again 'tweeking' and have had to put 1 duty back in so far. We've another 2 sections to come in, one being next week. The s**t is really going to hit the fan soon.

Why would it bother me? Yes I do finish to my time EVERY day and yes I do tell everyone in my office to do the same, whether they listen or not

Does that mean your Van duties are actually getting out of the door earlier (Because they've not got to do IPS) and therefore have an extra hour or so to Deliver? I thought most Posties would go for that, I personally find the indoor element of the job a pain in the arse. The only problem with "Delivery Only" is they cut your hours and you don't get paid as much i.e 22.5 hr contracts.

Some of our new revisions duties are 33 hrs and they look, according to the paperwork, as if you come in "Bag Up" and bugger off....unless they expect you to throw a complete walk off in 45 mins!

Yes you do get out a little earlier with the IPS already sorted, and you do save a lot of time having your own van. But the walks are still so big that most people are still cutting off, just not bringing back as much stuff as they were.

We also have the union jumping up and down demanding that we go back to sharing vans as that is supposed to be how P & L works.

Ultimately the measures they have brought in [IPS night sorting + one person to a van] are short term solutions to a long term problem. They are doing anything they can at the moment to avoid/delay putting walks back in. The delivery section in our office will be moving down the road in a few months time. I think they are delaying more changes til then as the location of the new office will probably end up with another resign. This is because all the walks distances to the new office will change and the seniority bods will moan that they are losing out if they have to travel an extra 5 minutes to thier current walks!

not the whole IPS but a start on it
usually 1.5-2 hours early
Its all a mess
then theres the sequencing
comes down late or not sequenced at all
I guess its a way to ease in the later starts if you are waiting on mail anyway
