It's not whether any of us will individually, it's how much support there would be for industrial action, and if about half of the London membership, and they're the ones most affected, don't bother to vote such that a minority of the workforce there have voted 'yes' then there's not going to be the necessary backing across the country, especially as we all remember massive support for strikes two years ago not achieving much for us.

just read my P60, it said I earned 20 grand last year, that's with 1 hr 10mins o/t a week, if they could cut their costs, their biggest outlay is wages, so the minimum wage is £6.12 is it not, what's that a week, roughly £250 pw, twelve grand a year, we are on 380pw, what an incentive they will see, because, they say, and I quote"our costs are too high", that's where the attack will happen, remember Crosier, we are overpaid and underworked, but who will do this job for minimum wage? I cannot see anyone doing it, the delivery side of the job has become too hard!!!

What you say is 100% correct and i agree with you!
But i fear the national CWU dont understand and are not intrested in our little local problems, just the london mail centers.

If we strike a deal will be done for the London mail centers ,and we will be shafted even more ,proably the cwu will negotiate a pay cut for us and call it the best deal ever!

After all we are in this mess now beacasue we went on strike in 2009 and the mail centers agreed all the problems the Delivery staff are having now .

Unfortunately there are probably tens of thousands of peeps who are in such a mess would gladly do the job for the minimum wage.

remember when TNT (strike breakers) took over the Dutch postal service, they cut their costs by getting rid of nearly all the delivery posties and replacing them with Dutch housewives who recieved their bagged up mail at home and who dont even receive the minimum wage. They are on the same contract as the Hermes mugs over here, ie self employed receiving £20 odd quid (ish) for a round, with no sick, holiday , T&Cs etc.

Happy Days eh folks.

Can someone show me what was so great in the BT2010 for mail centre workers, to make them all vote yes for the agreement

Just remembered something.
It was a double vote as I recall.
And it was stated if BT2010 was not agreed, the MTSF would not be either whatever the vote went
Maybe understandably this swayed some mail centre votes.

But the CWU's reason for calling for action is that RM want to leave the BT2010 agreement. The CWU wants to DEFEND the BT2010 agreement ( Thats MORE P&L, LONGER SAT's & More D2D's etc. )

Does anyone with a legal background or access to legal advice, know what the legal stance is with an employer sacking it,s workforce and then re-employing them on inferior terms. Would this not constitute compulsory redundancy and a new job offer which is not deemed as suitable alternative employment, which if challenged in an industrial tribunal could mean RM have to pay out redundancy terms under the MTSF.
