Bob Gibson,The Voice

Post by Danelectro »

'One of the difficulties is the use of the BSI 100 standard, which has not been agreed with the CWU  and
which Bob Gibson fears is undermining the indoor workload tool (IWT).

The ebbs and flows of the working day mean that BSI 100 is just not sustainable over the full shift and we need
to take a pragmatic approach to arrive at sensible levels of performance.'

How long is the chattering on this subject gonna continue?Has Norris Mcwhirter been informed?
Why dosnt Bob take the same approach as the CWU are taking with mail center work which is BSI 85?

One of the reasons ive been given is that there are offices reaching BSI 130,and Bob has spent months investigating
why these offices can achieve those figures, but that was donkeys ago. It seems he has already in principle agreed
BSI 100 at the joint working group and is trying to find a way to not to lose face,i hope this gets nailed at conference.

No the tits are the tits who constantly come in early rush around indoors, work through their meal break then run about outside finishing 2hours early in order to pick up another round on overtime. Thats why some offices show a BSI of over 100. Thats why the rest of us are being lumbered with unexeptable workloads. Look around your office your bound to find some tits  Metaphoricaly speaking ofcourse

Don't you think management knows that?
Don't you think Bob Gibson knows that?
Don't you think both parties knew that before BSI was even brought to the table?
Did they think it might help? :cuppa

I think they did Fishtank,(for any office not in a revision or delivery methods). However without an agreement that does away with non-tools for the job OR weight off shoulder, what really should there be?

Clocking in and clocking out? (Major No's on that)

1 hour delivery spans? (yes please, and then we will be back on here within two years begging us to work our time)

Compulsory meal relief,(already here, and a minimum of 20 minutes..line managers and members hate reps for stating this)

Removing cars off delivery,(already there, although line managers will turn a blind eye)

Under 100 bsi( except Saturdays in which we get as much work as a Wednesday but finish it all in 6 hours,in which we work at 120 bsi...hang on..new agreement gives us 8 hours working on a Saturday)

Injuries/weight off shoulder (ahh yes! The "two bags at a time mob". The ones that state the union are s**t...except when they represent us when ATOS recommends ill health retirement when their back and shoulders ache permanently)

Decline in stamped mail,( if you prep a 5th or 6th per day of your D2D rather then throw it all in on a Tuesday)

The list is endless. I am not a massive fan of any agreement to be fair. However I have the distinct impression that certain elements of senior management want us to walk away from this agreement. In fact I am sure of it. Its just my opinion mind you,and as usual its there to be shot down. I am working very hard to educate members though,(and HQ and the "old guard). I would rather do something pro active then not.......

The use of any measuring standard in offices that don't do the job properly only makes things worse for everybody.
Do you know any offices where 100% of the members do the job properly?
The trick was to get the members doing the job properly first then introduce a measuring system.
It doesn't work the other way around...in fact it makes things 100 times worse because the bar is set at an unobtainable level from day 1 and the pressure is on management to keep it there.

Our fault...for the bad practice...yes.
For introducing 100bsi into the mix....no.

Yes.more often then not it is bad management. However in offices where revisions have gone in I can assure you that management heads have been rolling. For example if an office was absorbing 10 walks then 10 walks where taken off BEFORE the revision! Stupid idea? Of course it was!

However regional directors have put that much pressure on its managers. In face during conference calls "said" DOMS where getting their CV's read back out to them, stating that "your CV states you can do a savings revision". Some regional directors are are now "silently on the morning conference calls. Why not educate certain members and put the pressure BACK on them rather then accept it?
