model week

can anyone tell me what the model week is for the revision ,dom says its weeks 11-17 . but i was lead to believe it was an average of weeks 11-17 and 41-47 , weeks 11-17 are the lightest weeks of the year so how can it be a model week

They choose the lightest weeks so you can "flex up".

Yep,same here.the revision has been based on weeks of light mail so its achievable in theory.Try working to that same duty planner from September and i bet you dont stand a chance of inward sorting then prepping then having a break then tryin to get out on delivery on time.Oh I forgot and putting door to doors in!!!!Oh and dont forget team brief as well Shhhhhish

I often park on "Double-Yellows", which has got to be the worst offence! But i don't give a damn because I'm only un-loading!

Flexing up is all well and good but it tends to not work out when the DOM's are instructed by thier superiors to justify any O/T that is booked. If OPGS that are willing to flex up could be guaranteed to be left in peace and quiet to book the O/T then fine but in reality DSM's and above will be to put it politely, unhappy and will discuss thier unhappiness with the DOM's.

Whoever dreamed it would work with a 3pm finish and a 4.30 delivery needs psychiatric help.

You also have to have the skills in the office to flex up.
At xmas our p/t staff are put on the IPS. They don't know it because their duties no longer include IPS and they are not trained on it.
Instead of having a competent sorter to each frame you end up with 2 to each frame, one of which is standing staring at the idiot board above his head and just getting in the way.
On paper you have twice as many bodies and can sort twice as much mail.
In reality you sort less with more missorts.
I think a lot of RM managers need psychiatric help.

exactly, we have people out till 5 oclock.i started this park and loop rubbish this week and my buddy has to finish on his time because of child care and next week he's being moved to trolley duty as punishment for being un co-operative and i'll be next cos i'm not working more than 30 minutes over and i'm stopping that next week. not one of the park and loop duties is working and the trolley duties are even worse. but they just press on regardless and claim its working fine.

the dom reckons they are easier to cover on overtime because they are nearer the office
