Why cant the CWU put out a D2D to every address of the UK detailing what exactly a privatised RM will offer.
They can also point out the pension deficit being picked up by the UK taxpayer, higher prices etc.
They could explain a better way for RM to become better without the need for privatisation as the Govt
are already in the process of making the playing field a bit more level. The ycan point out at the moment
that our Govt appointed postcom who made it law that we couldnt cut our prices whilst our competitors did
and that we are making a loss for every item of dsa we deliver and yet we cannot compete to try and keep
those businesses.
They could also list ways to make their voices heard to those parasites in power.
Whilst the public are extremely apathetic, this is sometimes due to the fact that the info is not thrust into their faces
and using a D2D is a way of doing this.
I dont understand why the CWU dont try harder to get public support on a broader scale than they are currently doing.
Perhaps Labour could come on board as well on this.

Labour Supported- sorry started the process for Part Privatisation so I cant see them chipping in to print a D2D item.

Costs: A5 single sided full colour cost to print say between 1 and 2p each - £280,000 (based on 1p per item)

RM D2D costs: cheapest band is 10M Band A (less than 20g) is £33.42 per 1,000 (exclusive of VAT)


= £935,760.00 VAT at current rate of 20% adds another £187,152.00

Total cost without adding transport from Printers to Walk Bundling Centre, and the costs during the design process =

£1,402,912

with CWU finances as they are not sure we could afford that and the strikes that seem to be gathering pace.

I think a better campaign would be small adverts in the national press along the lines of Don't ConDem Royal etc, or Billboards at strategic locations. Or even a group of reps appearing at where cameras are likely to be with small placards stating our case. For instance when world leaders are visiting, red carpet events, live news broadcasts etc etc.

It would be a lot cheaper to take out FULL PAGE ads in all the national newspapers

It would also have the side effect of stiring the interest of the journalist on the RM subject - who might just start to write investigative articles into RM management practace i.e. why the new management ideas have lead to increased costs & a vastly reduced service

Each member Donates extra £1.50 roughly thats half - I'm sure even the Cwu could match its members donation. As a postman i would gladly reduce my 'Delivery supplement' for 1 week by £1.50 to deliver the truth on to every door matt in the land.

The CWU may not be able to afford D2D's or even to put full page adverts in the papers but they fecking well should still be doing something
to reach the people. It's one thing to have a march through cities waving banners but it is unlikely to change anyones thinking if they live outside
of these areas. There are so many people I talk to, who havent the foggiest idea that we are about to be privatised and that includes fellow posties.
This leads me to suspect that the CWU's campaign is pretty s**t at delivering the news to the people of the UK.
Is that deliberate? Has Hayes & Ward been asked to dance to the condems tune?
It makes me wonder when a few months ago a certain Mr Hune attacked Cameron & Osborne for lying about the alternative voting system
and then all of a sudden he is front page news over a speeding ticket.
If the condems can afford to send more and more military to Libya at a cost of millions then they can f*ck off when it comes to selling RM to their friends.
