Missorts

I was always led to believe that you did not tie your walk up until after missorts were done.I was prep tested today and after I tied up and went for a break I came back to find 10 missorts on my frame.When I asked the DOM for advice on what to do he said 'Put them in your bag and do them as you go'.I asked what would happen if I came in the following morning with the missorts still in my bag having forgotten to do them? His reply was 'you know they are in your bag so there is no reason why you cannot do them'.

There is no cut off point for missorts in our office.Is this acceptable?

deliver them, if you value your job. its wilful delay. or you could always pouch them off
but the main thing is take care in what you do, royal mail are now looking for any excuse too get rid of staff

I don't tie up until after the missorts have been sorted.
We have at times had walk sorted in them.

If it means you're out later,you're out later.

missorts are utter bull sh*t...

i understand that mistakes are made... but more often than not when i was on deliveries the missorts would be late 99% of the time.. and it was never just 1 or 2 letters... it was always bundles

if missorts are not at an office on time or before the scheduled time then it should down to the DOM to arrange delivery by themself or by getting one of the drivers to do it on OT or SA.
other wise it forces people to wait longer in the office... meaning they are on the streets later than they would normally be... and they wont get paid if they end up over their time because they get held back...

i seem to recall 2 or 3 occasions when i worked at 2 different offices... we were actually held in the office for upto an hour because the missorts had been sent to another office.,.. sadly though almost everyone just did the full duty without cutting off, instead of saying they wouldnt work over their time because RM F*cked up - even the CWU rep went out and did the full duty without kicking up a stink...

mostly im moaning because its always missorts on wed/thurs/fri/sat that hold you back ... on monday and tuesday (and occasionally from memory the odd friday) things normally run right.. and you have no hold ups...

We are still on the IPS these days when the missorts come in so it's not really an issue anymore. We used to have a cut off time which was 15 minutes after the scheduled time. As for missorts within the office I always check the missort frame as the last thing I do before I leave the office. I keep any missorts I get after I've tied up in a bundle in delivery order and do them as I go. If I happen to forget one I treat it the same as any other missort, ie if I have time at the end I go back and deliver it otherwise I take it back to the office, endorse it as missort and put it in the missort frame.

Why?

iirc the excuse given by the DOM was that since the missorts were late.. then the time that everyone was waiting was (in his mind) their break... since there was no work (left) to be done prior to the missorts arriving (that shouldnt have been completed already).

basically the only time i recall the DOM mentioning breaks

We lost our local missort run about 9 months ago I am glad its gone but i dont get out any sooner these days.

Dont know what happened about quality and delivery performance they just stopped the run
