new overtime claim rules

In our office we are now instructed that we will not be paid for overtime unless it is authorised before we leave on delivery and of course afterwards. The overtime claim form MUST have a managers signature before overtime is incurred and afterwards. Notwithstanding managers are gone by 1pm leaving only a senior postie who is not authorised to permit overtime.

We had something similar in our office about 8 or 9 months ago.
It must have last all of a fortnight before our 'hard pressed' management team let it slide into oblivion along with all their other initiatives.

It's only a game he plays lads! If you tell him every day that week that you "Think" you'll be going over he gets bored and says "Just claim for it if you go over!"

You do this for a while and then he collars you and says, "You seem to be booking a lot of Over Time, the other lad gets it done quicker than you, you'll have to try and get it done a bit quicker!"

"Let me know if you "Think " you're going to go over" and then we repeat the process with different lengths of time between the chats!

Last time I said, "Yeah No Problem...if you fancy coming out with me one day you might be able to suggest some ways I could get quicker!" I did keep a straight face, but he didn't say anything.

That's a Dirty Trick Hitcher: Think I'd only get caught on that once. Suppose it comes from the managers Booklet,

We have had a similar crack down on OT recently but after a few days of heavy workloads and cutting off there does seem to be cracks appearing in the linos resolve. Nothing like the threat of some pysical labour to get the linos to start paying out again!

Even I could see through that, its a dirty sneaky scam and I have seen some, this really does take the biscuit.
