NO TO SRTIKE!

Post by kendo1 »

If it comes to a vote for stike action I will vote NO.

in 2009 ,my office a supposedly millitant office,100% supourt went on strke,I was on picket lines I lost money.
in our office the strike was not over pay,it was over terms and conditions,ie increased worloads etc.

Then the deal of the Century was annouced it turns out we had gone on strike for pay and nothing else.

I am a great fan of Roymail a well known contributor to the media. He is well intouch with the average Postie unlike the CWU.
in one witing from Roy he says something like "the reasons we went on strike for was not the same reasons as the national union went on stike for"

After the Deal of the Century we went on stike for ,we got a pay rise of sorts ,but in return unlimited D2D and substantialy increased workload from asborton,
Sick leave is the highest its ever been, the D2D quality is all time low .
Conditions continuly being eroded with later start times.

Now we have this moneysaving scheme called Park and Loop.
We had Pegusus wich was a total failure ,now after 18 months of planning 2 Diffrent planners ,walks have been produced wich any one could have done in a morning on a srap bit of paper ,ie just put 2 posties in a area regardless of size ,exsisting traffic, distance etc..And even bigger than Pegasus!

In some cases 2 posties are going to be expected to do the work of 4 posties at present.

Since 2009 the CWU have lost their voice, nothing heard from them.
Shortly due to this 2009 agreement we went on strike for ,we are going to be expected to do massive walks ,all double slotted frames with unlimited D2D and Packets.

Do Turkeys vote for XMAS.
in our office a lot of bad feeling towards the union for selling us down the river in 2009.
Now, all of a sudden when jobs in London are threated we are expected to go on strike ?

Proably the 2011 agreement will ,help the london members out but really screw every one else even more .But does that matter to the CWU leaders.
Localy their are no compulsary redunancies ,just the opposie,so many people leaving their is not enough staff,so many people want VR but cant get it.
The moment London are threatend we are all expected to come out ,but what is in it for me ,even biger walks even more D2D even later start times.
since 2009 Localy apart from the CWU still wearing RM uniforms You could not tell they were not Management.

No one in our office is happy with the conditions wich have come about from the 2009 agreement,So what is the point of striking to be sold down the river again.

If someone came to our office offering 104 weeks money to go ,as is Rumored in London, the stampede to sign up would be massive .

In RM land CWU land not all offfices are treated Equal and not all staff are treated Equal ,especialy if they are anything to do with the CWU.Just like Communists some people are more Equal than others.

Routinely the CWU ignore the Dangerous conditions you are working in extreme weather conditions.be it hot or cold ,its all good for the foot soldiers, they can do it !

a no vote weakens the union.fact.
a weaker union will have no control over management slash and burn tactics.fact.
a no vote means you are definately f****d instead of maybe f****d with a yes vote.fact.

But how is a 'no' vote worse than a 'yes' vote that isn't backed by solid industrial action because everyone remembers what happened last time ?
If you and your colleagues aren't prepared for a lengthy strike, with little prospect of success at the end of it, then a 'yes' vote is futile.
Defeatist I might be, but that's only after what happened last time.

should we deliver a "no" vote the union wont be able to bring RM to the negotiating table.

as a result RM will push ahead with their "new" buisness plan.

the BT2010 is bad but i dread to think what the alternative would be should we roll over.

Were all between a rock and a hard place... people WANT to support the Union BUT they remember last time and the time before. We lost huge amounts of money (£1000+) and yet RM got to implement everything they wanted on that basis why vote for a strike?
BTW, I've not decided

what has pissed us people in the north east is the great divide.
we have the great park and loop shite in,we have later starts in ,we have 3pm sats in.we have had css machines thrust upon us.two mail centres in the area are closeing in 2012.our working conditions are shite with 4hr + deliveries.
WHERE WAS THE GREAT UPROAR AND SUPPORT FROM THE SOUTH THEN.
our reps worked hand in hand with rm,where was our help from upper cwu.
THATS WHY WE ARE SO BITTER.
now its happening south everyone is expected to drop and follow.
what else can they do to us.
i agree a split te could finish this union, but is it not finished already.

I think that this is most definitely a turning point... the prize is who controls RM.

You should have sorted all those things out locally, without any help from the cwu, didn't you know it's every office for itself! You must have a very weak unit to have let yourselves get rolled over like that! Anyway, what's happening in your office really isn't important, just think about London and getting behind them....after all we're all in this together don't you know?

Voting a no is complete suicide and more slash and burn tactics will occur. The problem we have with our union is they DON'T LISTEN TO ITS WORKFORCE. Our union needs to start listening to us.

So if you vote No isnt that the same as telling Royal Mail you dont mind them doing what ever they want? If you dont resist the attack on our lively hood then you might as well roll over and lube up as its only going to get worse! Royal Mail did not force the 2010 agreement on us, we voted for it through a democratic process. We cant change history but we shouldnt give up our say in our future because we got a bum deal.

I think something most people seem to forget is if Royal Mail are trying to screw us over when we have a solid written agreement with them, what do you think they would be doing if there was no such deal? This agreement may have cost you £1000s but if it wasnt in place maybe they would have decided to close your DO or M/C without consultation and you would find yourself down the jobcentre with a small compulsory redundency payment. Royal Mail HAD to save money isnt it better that we all lost some instead of your collegues losing their jobs? Look at the world we live in and the state of our economy in all honesty being a little less well off is much better then most industries are suffering at the moment! If we were a government department we could have been looking at 20% cuts!!!!

Well we did vote it in George, but exactly how democratic would you call the process to get a yes vote? Tell me George would you say the situation has improved since the 2009 IA or has it got worse? Would you say that nationally the defence of the workforce conditions has been consistent. Are we being told the extent of RMs involvement in the London situation and the terms being offered. Under the agreement there was NO agreement for no compulsory redundancies.

Now exactly how are the reasons for a national vote to be put to the entire membership...................the threat of later delivery times, yep we have those, the threat of later Saturdays, yep we have those, the threat of unachievable workloads, yep we have those, HCTs, yep we have those, park and loop, yep we have those, mechanisation, yep we have that, part time work, yep we have that, redundancies........give us the chance and each and every delivery office would vote YES.
