Re: REPICK QUESTION ?
I always thought it was a combination of both, and it depends if the Duty is FT or the person holding the duty is FT.comeracing wrote:CONFUSION IN OUR OFFICE,DOES A REPICK GO ON SENIORITY OR THE AMOUNT OF CONTRACTED HOURS THAT STAFF ARE CURRENTLY WORKING,DOM SAYS CONTRACTED HOURS AN OFFICE 10 MILES AWAY HAVE JUST DONE IT ON SENIORITY.
If by Duties then Seniority first but FT with low seniority can't be forced to go on to a duty with less hours if there is a FT duty available when all FT with higher seniority have picked.
But if you are in a Unit that does not have duties based on hours then its seniority all the way.

If walks get fewer, longer, harder.........Isn't repick/re-sign just a desperate senior postie clutching at an ever shrinking short straw?

Re: REPICK QUESTION ?
One would assume that any left over 40 hour staff when all duties are picked become the reserves.
We've allways run two repicks at my D.O one for FT duties/staff and one for PT duties/staff both in seniority order.

Out of roughly 80 walks in my office...maybe 5 are worth having, not because they are any easier but because they have earlier start and finish times..
If you have less than 25years service you may as well throw a dart at the duty board wearing a blindfold.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

We've got three repicks on the go at the moment . 45 duties + 6 reserves for full time staff , 22 duties for 28hr - 36hr staff and 19 duties + 7 reserves for staff working less than 28 hrs .

For the 28 hr - 36 hr contracted staff they can pick into 6 x 32 hr duties , 2 x 31 hr dutes and 14 x 28.75 .
For the staff working less than 27 hrs they can pick into 1 x 24 hr duty , 7 x 23 hr duties , 1 x 22 hr duty , 1 x 20.5 hr duty , 4 x 19 hr duties and 5 x 16 hr 35 min with the remainder being reserves .
If a postie contracted to 36 hrs per week picks a 32 hr duty he/she will owe 4 hrs . Management bank these hours and give the person concerned notice on how these hours will be worked . Management and our rep are currently working out how much notice needs to be given for claiming these hours back . The vast majority of part time staff will owe management hours , some will find themselves owing up to 8.5 hrs per week . It's a minefield

Re: REPICK QUESTION ?
Why are there even such a thing as partime and fulltime duties? I though the outdoor element would be basically the same for everyone and the indoor element would be there to make the hours up to whatever your contracted hours would be i.e double prepping, ips etc.

Re: REPICK QUESTION ?
TBT hit the nail on the head. It Should go on seniority. The problem is if they're running out of 39 hr Duties and you are Senior (But on 22.5 hrs contract) they may allow someone who is less Senior to have first pick (If they have an existing 33 hr contract)comeracing wrote:CONFUSION IN OUR OFFICE,DOES A REPICK GO ON SENIORITY OR THE AMOUNT OF CONTRACTED HOURS THAT STAFF ARE CURRENTLY WORKING,DOM SAYS CONTRACTED HOURS AN OFFICE 10 MILES AWAY HAVE JUST DONE IT ON SENIORITY.
Your office should have published a Seniority List and at least then you would know were you are. It would be even better if it stated what contracts everyone was one.
We have the interesting situation where a number of Senior members are thinking about "Drooping Down" to less hours. This has caused problems for members, who are less Senior, who may not be able to "Drop down" (because there's no PT duties left) and they may have to remain on a duty that has more hours than they want!
