Re: walk away from the agreement
That would be a mistake.
The CWU should tear-up this shambolic agreement simply because there is not a thing in it that is of any benefit whatsoever to postal workers.
We should not be asking Royal Mail bosses to stick to this damned agreement at all, because even if bosses adhered to every word, sentence, and paragraph, in the most shyte agreement I've ever had lumped on me, it would do nothing, absolutely nothing, to make working for this piss-taking outfit any more palatable.

Re: walk away from the agreement
rm management are trampling over people and making up policy as they go.
some offices are being asked to include absorption into duties on all rounds .
the argument being this: you have been lapsing all year so it no different
if its in your duty then its expected to be delivered so thats not the same as absorption in spare time.
postmans walks have always been assessed as to whether they are achievable thats
obviously not happening .you dont increase everyones ? round by say 25 houses and expect people to believe that
they all? had capacity.
whats next? rounds now bigger plus a new duty lapsed
failing to clear... huge overtime bills ..increased amounts of sick and other absence
it will all end in tears

Re: walk away from the agreement
this agreement should never have been implicated ..with money dangled in front of the postal workers ..one lot of money much bigger than the other ..it was rm virtually saying this is what we want ..and most not seeing past the bigger £££ sign .each office union rep should have one vote ..not relying on the masses to vote .and no money be involved in the vote procedure ....the now up to 6 lots of d2ds being the worst part of the agreement ..my god how on earth did this even get past the so called union ..what ever money you got for voting for this side of the agreement has well gone .more than likely ..and now your paying for it ..by losing out on your regular d2ds money you used to get ..and doing twice as much for zilch ..
THIS SHOULD BE ROYAL MAILS LOGO

They believe falling mail volumes mean falling call rates.
Falling call rates means shorter deliveries .......or more calls to keep the delivery at the required length.
I'm not sure what the scientific basis is for their assertions.
I recently heard one manager claim in virtually the same breath that falling mail volumes means a lower call rate yet increased mail volumes (like bulk postings) don't mean an increased call rate.

If RM had got what they wanted from BT2010 why :kingofmcr wrote: ..it was rm virtually saying this is what we want ....
1. Do they need an injection of government money to prop up their piss poor financial position?
2. Are the revisions they have brought in been a disaster by and large?
3. Do they want to introduce a new business plan?

Has anyone seen it?
Does it even exist?
Or is it just a scare story to make you think that the present agreement is worth fighting for?
If a new business plan exists i want to see it in all it's glory, not hear second hand that it's ohhhhh so scary.
There were various documents "leaked" before and during the last IA that were supposedly business plans and we were forever told that Royal Mail wanted this and that but to be completely honest...i don't believe a word of it any more.
It has a name in business and union circles.
It's called down-dialling expectations...or scaring the s**t out of members to the point where they will accept anything.
It worked in 2010.

It turned out to be a pile of scrap metal held together by metallic paint.
You are confusing "getting what you want" with "things turning out the way you wanted them to".

A little mild confusion is understandable when you reach my age but ultimately it is the same thing.fishtank wrote: You are confusing "getting what you want" with "things turning out the way you wanted them to".
D2D into workload obviously was (and remains) one of the most contentious issues for delivery staff.
RM are now getting D2D delivered for free and are coining it in because everyone is now doing 6 D2D/week.
Yet in my office the average number of D2D contracts has barely risen. Yes, some weeks we have had 5/6 but next week most people have 1 and the managers (not just at DO level) are moaning that D2D should never have been put into workload. They claim they need an average of 5/week to break even. Maybe, maybe not.
At a time when advertising budgets will be looked at by companies needing to save every penny in the current economic climate, and when there is increased competition for what business is available, putting D2D into workload was madness for RM.

Re: walk away from the agreement
That argument only holds up if you believe that putting D2D into workload actually cost RM anything or has it been completely mitigated by reduced traffic count and setting BSI for indoor work at ridiculously high levels?clashcityrocker wrote: At a time when advertising budgets will be looked at by companies needing to save every penny in the current economic climate, and when there is increased competition for what business is available, putting D2D into workload was madness for RM.

Re: walk away from the agreement
And that is I think the real problem - the setting of unachievable performance standards - indoor and outdoor.fishtank wrote: and setting BSI for indoor work at ridiculously high levels?
That is where the focus of attention needs to be.
I don't care what I deliver, I don't care where I deliver it.
I want to be able to start on time and finish on time and know that in 20 years time I will be able to bend down and pick up my grandchildren.

Re: walk away from the agreement
The deals great, more absorption, longer walks and more broken promises from RM. Lets not forget the phantom shares.
Wait, maybe we should blame our top brass for wanting us to accept a mince deal. Are they still our leaders

Re: walk away from the agreement
What posties (me included) need to get used to is finishing when the duty time states, you do NOT have to run round or sort mail quicker than the prep rate states, just work upto your time within Royal Mail rules and if at the end of your "duty time" you have mail left then just take it back to the office (remember to tell your line manager you do not think you will complete and let him decide what you take out, the buck then is with your line manager
