If say, you are in the wrong and a manager shouts swears at you in front of others, do you have grounds to make a complaint against them? Could they have warnings from their superiors about choice of words etc? Is there grounds for bullying or harrasment?
If the manager has words with you and you tell them to F off or F you, they could have you suspended or on some disciplinary code violation? So does it work the other way round?

It is supposed to apply to managers too, but like sickness there seems to be one law for them and one for us.
I did hear though that a notorious manager from my MC who was transferred elsewhere was suspended for swearing there.
But opgs have been sacked for swearing at managers.

There is a difference between swearing and swearing at someone..aggression is the real key to finding yourself in trouble whether you are swearing or not....it's a fine line...so tread carefully.
My DOM swears at me and i swear back at him...but not in front of people.
I do not swear at the line managers because they still think they are on the way up and are looking for brownie points.
I have had DOM's and DSM's who were totally anti-swearing...know your enemy...that's the trick.
If we wanted everyone busted..managers and OPG's for swearing we would lose more bodies than them.
f**k that.

My partner has been advised to resign by his union rep. He swore at a manager and has been suspended in the meantime and he felt he had no other option than to resign.
Does anyone know if he still has a leg to stand on if and if he could retract his resignation and talk things through with his line manger. He is having major difficulties in his life just now?

Well i'm glad your union rep is not representing me!polly2224 wrote:My partner has been advised to resign by his union rep. He swore at a manager and has been suspended in the meantime and he felt he had no other option than to resign.

I have succesfully defended members who have been charged with gross misconduct over swearing at managers.
Your partners rep should be building a case based on the circumstances in your partners life.
Should be looking towards the manager being apologised to and a lesser charge being accepted (ie 2 year warning).
DO not resign, get decent representation!
what's your partners record at work like?
Any previous problems with discipline?

It would appear to be increasingly difficult to defend any full time members.smileski wrote:

They just see an opportunity to get rid of another one.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Sorry to hear about your predicament polly.
