Working on day off & payment

Post by POSTWOMAN »

hello & whats up to my post mans & womans struggling everday with -- overtime not coming payslips, mananger ordered shoes but they aint coming anytime soon, d2d items that increasing errday, hearing lapse or extras that leads to high blood pressure, dealing with managers and/or drivers who cant see the diiference between my bag & a packet the size of car which am compelled to take with me & not to forget the special days when we recieve 6-8 special delivery a day & if u r lucky like me one them saying befrore 12 pm. :Very Happy :Applause

:dcfo :ncfo :vcfo
Amen.

am on 25 hr contract & last week manager got senti & emo & asked me to cover a walk on my day off . My question - for my records i should be adding 5 hrs to my overtime on top of my weekly 25 hrs & match it the payslip am gonna get this week
Correct me if am wrong ?
the reason i asked for options is - in april i had some emergency & asked leave which i was given. Then in recent week we had long holiday buz of the royal wedding etc. unfortunately my day off & royal wedding fell on the same day. last week i asked dom when can i take my day off that i lost, but dom said it will be comapensated for the leave i took in april --- i dun know if its legally correct.
so i fear dom will again say that the day off i worked last week ( day off in question) will aslo b compesated for the leave i took in april
*** sorry about the cofusion -- anything over 25 hrs over 5 days or 5 hrs per day, i say it as overtime ...overtime rates mat not apply
Thanks in advance

They agree to pay you the hours you think appropriate for working your day off
OR
you don't work your day off.

You need to ask who is your union rep and ask for him or her help to fight for you and then join the union.

If they're really desperate you might be able to do a deal...I'll come in and work the 5 hours but I'd like 7 hours pay for it! If they asked me to work my day off in one Delivery office they used to pay it at Scheduled Attendance Rate. :Very Happy

I don't think that's taking the piss, you're giving up your day off and the Overtime Rates are crap! :mad The reason they like Part Timers to make these hours up is because they only have to pay you the standard rate of pay until you've done 40 hours! :arrrghhh

Agree the terms of the extra work beforehand ie I'll work it as overtime and you pay me or I'll work it but would like an extra day of A/L instead of payment. I think those are your options if they ask you again.
PS : You won't get the Overtime Rate untill you've worked 40 hours...

Christ I know we are poorly paid, but your maths suggest you are only being paid about 8 pound a year, I would defo consider asking for a pay rise dear. :hmmmm

£8 - £9 per hour roughly depending on contract and length of service. To get a wage of about £8.5k you would be a 20 hour postie but thats 1.7% of Moyas wage not 0.000017 (or 0.0017%)
