Boycott DSA

I have long hated DSA and can't understand why we don't boycott the bl**dy stuff, unless of course it would be illegal to do so.

I can understand that the Union were scared that competitors would set up rival delivery networks and perhaps reluctantly have gone along with DSA despite all the problems it has caused , but my argument is this; RM lose money on every item of DSA so why should it bother us if they are delivered by someone else ?This would just reduce our losses, perhaps then we would get our cs payout. Perhaps there are some advantages thru' economies of scale , I dont know , but surely its time to ditch access mail and other products.

DSA being removed from the RML network and being delivered by out competiors would see a further reduction in jobs in RM unlikely to be voluntary at that and new jobs being put in place by our competiors with the legal minium//maxium terms and conditions of employment. The ideal scenario other than reversing the european/domestic postal service directives is that DSA is charged at the correct commerical rate. DSA providers are doing the cheap bit of getting the mail from posting point to delivery point but can not grasp that the part we do in RML is the most expensive part. With ever increasing amounts of delivery points its a little tricky to reduce our delivery manpower to get the savings expected of us by DSA providers and big buissness.

If industrial action consisting of boycotting of DSA were to take place I imagine RML/DSA providers would challenge in the courts and if the courts do not rule in our favour and we as in CWU do not comply then a fine could be had which would be paid from CWU funds.

This is something Billy and Daves Mates in the Labour Party should have delt with when they were in power. But they didnt they just tried to part sell us off. What a waste of time and money pumped into these so called socialists.........

Yes and they have been squealing about it ever since - I have posted a few of the stories in the New section.

I don't imagine for a second that UK mail/ DHL/ TNT/ e.t.c would deliver these items if Royal Mail refused to. It would not be economic for them to do so. DSA is an absolute disgrace, this is all because of the EU directive on monopolies/competition. A completely unfair playing field.

DSA is abig part of our workload nowadays without it jobs would go and hours be cut.

RM needs to charge them alot more and start manipulating the market to so customers bypass these companies and come back to us.

Forcing us to deliver our competitors mail, starving our profits, forcing later deliveries leading to public dissatisfaction etc etc. All intentional to soften the way for privatisation and THEN things will change and the playing field evened.

I dont pay attention to the goings on in Royal Mail apart from getting in and doing my job .

I looked up DSA and am i right in saying it actually COSTS Royal Mail 2p per letter to deliver ??

The piece I read is these companies put in the cheapest option to the customer to take the business AWAY from RM and then hand it back to us to deliver ??

If thats right then no fkin wonder they are in a bad way .

In the days of Leighton and Crozier the offical line was that loss on DSA was the fault of RML for not being efficient enough and if we were, we could make X amount of profit on it.
