These days, it is quite common to have houses of multiple occupation on our walks with just a single accessible letterbox for delivery, or even blocks of flats with a single letterbox accessible without the need to enter the block itself...
Are these given any extra weighting when input into the like of Geo and Pegasus (to account for the likelihood of more letters and packets), in comparison to a standard family home, or are all single letterboxes treated the same?
If each letterbox it treated equally, regardless of how many distinct addresses lie beyond the letterbox, should we not be delivering a single door to door bundle to each letterbox each week?
I have recently been given the impression that each letterbox should count as one delivery point (i.e. minimising the apparent workload in terms of expected outdoor work), while if we know a certain address has say six flats within it, we should deliver six bundles of D2D (i.e. maximising our workload)... Surely both statements cannot be right, can they?

Multiple occupancy with only one delivery point is usually just classed as one drop, at least in my experience.
That should also the packets for that address count as an oversize van drop if they ammount to
the same size as a packet you would put out to the packet duty.
I'd say the D2D should still be prepped seperate with each internal address though.
No idea how pegasus or geo classes it - probably the way that makes the job appear lighter

Considering how long D2D has been about I would have thought the answer to this would have been common knowledge... Shame on RM!

I've got a run of about 14 B&B's/DSS places, each with a single letterbox and 1 D2d. About half of them get between 10-20 letters a day. Hardly any packets though, as they can't afford it, or possibly don't trust their co-residents enough to leave them in the communal areas? Would rather the status quo, than having to faff about with another 100 odd D2Ds.
On the other hand, there's three businesses in this section that also get loads of mail and are fairly packety, but no D2ds.
Presumably, a computerised system just says all of them are one house, same as the poor old codger in the terrace, who only gets one letter a week? In all fairness, I expect Alan Turing would have been hard pushed to come up with a system to work a typical RM round out

What has made this counting of the number of delivery points more confusing is that my frame and others have an inconsistent approach as regards frame slots...
Some addresses with a shared single letterbox have individual slots, while others have one slot for all addresses behind the single letterbox!
Considering my walk has other frame issues (shared slots for different letterboxes, some addresses horribly out of sequence, some addresses no longer exist etc.), I think I need to insist on getting a re-write done, hopefully getting guidelines regarding these addresses with shared letterboxes at the same time.
