A new block of flats is put up with 12 flats on 4 floors. All the letterbox's are on the ground floor accessible from the outside.

New owner moves into flat on 4th floor and creates letterbox in his door and requires postie to walk up 4 flights of stairs and use it. He super glues shut his letterbox on ground floor.

Does RM have an official policy on this sort of things?

See the thing is and I'm not sure if anyone would agree with me but people on the top floor or the end of the cul de sac etc tend to be different they ALWAYS have mail even on the lightest of light Tuesdays they always complain etc etc.

Dont know about that. But personally would just endorse it no access. Unless they have a notice up stating that lb is upstairs. If so then ask union rep & mgr. Its a bit like when your on the parcel van. Delivery points are downstairs but they still expect you to walk all the way up with it, even though you dont have the time.

To start with agreed but there would be a point when my manager would have to deal with a complaint... would he say go up the stairs OR would he tell the customer to un-glue his letterbox?

if you mis sorted his mail unintentionally on Tuesday you would have to climb the stairs on Wednesday.
obviously to make sure he got his mail.
you could do no less for such a deserving customer.

Whatever you do dont stream his mail.

Now thats what I thought... it was now a requirement that blocks of flats had to have there letter boxes at ground level???

Deliver the mail to his letterbox but tell your manager what you're doing..........then you can cut off/claim ot because the duty has been expanded

I can't see the problem? He want his mail in his door. Assuming you have access and it is reasonably safe to do so then you should deliver it to his door but yes, tell a manager so that Pegasus can be updated.
