phoned up to order new shoes
told I got a pair in August so I need to get a manager to authorise
this is the pair in question



except I didnt start wearing them till more like November
do the people in charge really believe we stroll a few hundred yards a day?

The cat shoes are good when they are new but they wear out soooo fast. I get 3 months max out of mine, normally less. I can't wear them until they are as worn out as yours though. About half the yellow bits have worn off on mine and my feet are really starting to get sore now. The problem is my current manager is totally useless at ordering shoes so I know it will never get done :( Can I turn up to work barefoot and say sorry but I can't go out on delivery today?

Shoes last forever when you sit on your fat arse for a living.
Probably wear through a few pairs of trousers though.

Do the same as I did, politely tell said Manager you will send pic of shoes to Health and safety executive---remind him that any equipment supplied for the job must be of an acceptable standard,-good luck,

I only wear the magnums,,,tried the cats but found they wore out real quick,,,,but the magnums aint much better,,,,gota pair of magnums in oct,,,wore out by march,,,,same thing phoned up,,,sorry u need manger,,,,,so each time ive phoned i do it in his office on a mon or tue when theres plenty of time and make sure he`s there to say his little bit.

i know im heavier on me feet but come on these shoes are crap.

oh had these new shoes,,,what,,,about 6-7 weeks,,,and the heels are wearing thin

I to had the same problem as this but I have found a solution . I hop around my delivery until one shoe is worn out then I hop on the other foot, that way the shoes last twice as long

I get through a pair of magnums every 12 - 14 weeks, I always show them to a manager and ask him to order them, I always seem to get them within a couple of days.

Have been told you can order one pair of boots AND one pair of shoes per year, so try ordering both next time.

There are of course other options to save wearing out your shoes and maybe even be able to replace them with a nice comfy pair of slippers.....

1. Become a manager
2. Work as a PHG
3. Become a driver in a DO
4. Work in a Mail Centre

Been with RM 3months no PPE supplyed at all .Uniform whats that?

they would use it against you
its your duty to inform them you have worn shoes
If they then fail to get shoes or a resolution then its a a different matter

i had the same problem with the magnums...
dont get me wrong.. they are one of the most confortable pairs of shoes and/or boots i have ever worn... but they just dont last.
never tried the CAT footwear.. but i have tried the Doc martins... not bad boots... but they aint as comfrtable when you have done a 4+ hour delivery shift

the thing that i dont understand is, is that Magnum shoes/boots of the same viper/midnite "family" that are sold online, and other magnum shoes/boots have what looks like a much thicker, chunkier and better gripping sole...

why does RM feel the need to have a (im guessing here) unique sole design... rather than using an "off the shelf" sole like the one used by the police...

at one point i remember the DOM actually telling us that because of ongoing issues with the Magnum shoes quality (length of use) that we could order a new pair of shoes or boots each month if needed and could be shown the state the soles were in with wear and tear...

the phone ordering line at the time were a f*cking pain in the ar*e... i mean they wouldnt let you order, and you couldnt get a hold of the DOM in the AM before you had to go out, if you did he would "forget" to place the order, and/or you wouldnt find him at the office in the afternoon...


same as with the old trousers... they would wear out in the crotch/inner thigh with rubbing when walking.. (especially in the summer when i was sweating like a pig) .. DOM told me to call and order new ones, and when i tried was told that i had already recieved my maximum allowance...
after which i told the DOM that if they dont want to authorise replacements.. then they would be responsible when i got accused of indecent exposure due to the excesive wear
