We have hardly any staff now loads full timers left & not replaced. Scarcely any sorters as the part timers fly about clearing off mail as we sort. A ll this time bosses(we had 4 this week) standing a few feet away trying to intimidate the few posties that sort, by standing there just watching. Its not our fault that theres not enough staff now to get everything sorted etc in time. The only reason half the jobs are out in time as they come in an hour early,sort d t doors at home, whats happened to the dignity and respect campaign?? The unions gone quiet too,,,

Part timers have to make up our d2d, go round the same duties, wait on the full timers who dont leave the office till 10 when were supposed to be out at half 9 and we dont get paid ot cuz were classed as being ft....and we get £5 a week less for d2ds.....just sux. Waited years for ft, never gonna happen

I think the point is that its not the part timers fault clearing down their mail whilst your sortings fault. We only get paid to deliver and tie up so cant really expect us to do ips as well for free. But your situation is definitely out of order and i see our managers struggling to find full timers for ips and to throw walks in. Doesnt help when you have ptimers in my office who come in early to prep their own walk for free! We even have one who comes in early to prep his own walk and ends up being bullied to do ips as well in his own time! I guess its just another problem to add to the list of things the union are letting us down on. Have you tried speaking to your area union rep? Not sure if it will help but probably worth a shot.

There's plenty of prats in RM. I can think of a few off-hand already:

Bloke 1 - Comes in at 8am, gets out by 10am, uses own car, doesn't take break, finishes at 2pm every day (5hrs pay)
Lass 1 - Comes in at 8am, gets out by 9.30am, uses own car, doesn't take break, finishes at 1.20pm every day (5hrs pay)
Bloke 2 - Comes in at 8am, gets out by 9.30am, uses own car, HAS WIFE MAKE UP D2DS at home, finishes at 1.10pm (5hrs pay)

Each of the above does more than the 4.5hrs work they're actually paid for, but the individual cases cannot be classified into such small categories as selfish. Some of these individuals are afraid, some of them them cannot stand up for themselves. They do not like confrontation or they value their employment more than they value their self-esteem. Two of the above three are on temporary contracts like myself and are aware that to be seen as a trouble-maker is one guaranteed way for RM to get rid of you and find another patsy. Royal Mail only likes people who will work for free, especially as it has brilliant ways of getting you to work for longer - for free. Me, I don't care for their games any more. I'll cut off every day and if it means toodles to another contract ... well. I'm not going to miss the job. I'm not going to miss anything. I believe in myself, I believe in my own abilities. I don't need to kneel in front of Royal Mail and fellate it - I'm better than that.

Depends with can be done in your duty time,if you have time for IPS or prepping then you will be expected to do it.
If you haven't got time then fair enough.Don't be fooled into thinking i'm a part timer i only do such and such.

Yeah will do, means I have to do IPS but with a 6:30 start and 2:15 finish most days it's not too bad, forgot about the d2d money going up as well though, wonder if the lump sum will be paid out to me at full timer rate.

But normally the part timers at my DO that the linos are picking on are going over everyday without doing any ips!
