walk/duty being timed,AT LAST !

HI folks my walk has come up at 3.5 hours on the geo route,i have never completed in less than 4 hours,last week after bank holiday tue-fri my delivery took around 5 hrs each day,im no slow coach,but i do the job properly,customers dont seem to come first with royal mail,but they do with me.been in the job well over 10 years so i know the score on most things.becuase i kicked up a fuss,my duty is being tested next week a manager from another office is comeing out in is car whilst i am delivering on a bike,HOPE HE HAS PLENTY OF FUEL IN HIS MOTOR.NEVER HAD A DUTY TESTED BEFORE,JUST WONDERING IF ANY OF YOU OUT THERe HAVE HAD A DUTY TESTED,any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck mate... Last one I had tested the Assistant DIM from a neighbouring DO came out with me and sat in the van throughout the duty. I didn't take the piss but did the job properly (including driving through a local park at 5 m.p.h. )

He didn't make any notes and once we'd finished (having gone over by at least an hour) he just disappeared. Next day I asked our DIM what the results were, "Yeah he said it was OK no problems!" Don't know why I bothered.

I suppose you really need the Manager and your Rep following you around on a tandem!

id get a cwu rep to go out with him as these doms all s**t in the same pot if you know what i mean.

nothing will be done about your 5 hr walk we had same in our office fukc was done all about it

Shouldn't someone from another office do the walk to prove it can be done in 3.5!
rather than send a manager to watch you do it.
the only thing that manager can do is try to pick fault with your method ie you spent to much time getting that signature etc.
it may be a tactic to try and get you to walk faster.
do the job properly let the walk reveal itself.

Had my walk tested last week and took 1.5hrs over. Walked at a reasonable speed only took mail out of bundle when I reached the door, closed gates at the back of me, went up and down every path (Even when I would usually step over small walls etc). Knocked door when I had packet and waited a couple of minutes before writing out card. It really does add up. The outcome was an hours worth taken of walk so there is hope, unless your manager is an @RSEHOLE. Good luck.

Heard on saturday that the reason they wont test walks is because cwu agreed georoute and thats it , computer says yes so it must be right.

Personally i've always found with a computer s**t in, s**t out. Just like managers really can talk it but can't do it.

had 25 mins taken off mine but been told that it should never have been taken off still nearly last back every day so i think it was justified

they wont take anything off in our office cause who else is going to do the pressure ? costing them overtime everyday or putting it on another walk they wont do it in our office

Sadly, they will massage the figures! And even when they actually walk the walk with you, and you leave them lagging, huffing and puffing behind,they will STILL lie about the time it takes, and what is possible!
