Starting P&L on Monday. For the repick we were diveded into 2 groups. PT & FT. Each had a pick, but even though some PT are more senior than FT they were not allowed to pick a FT duty! Wrong in my eyes. But on the plus side most PT are now going up to 35 hrs. So quick question, are PT on 7hr days now entitled to 40 min break?

Why wrong (honest question)

Would you expect at FT postie do drop their hours, and take home pay, so that a PT could take his duty.

Or would you expect RM to put more hours into the office so that PT who wanted a FT duty could do have it without displacing a FT.

Which option would you choose or is there a 3rd option I have not thought of.

Why wrong? Seniority is seniority no matter how many hours you work. An example is we have a FT who is 70th on the FT list, but only 74 overall. So why cant the others pick a duty? Not knocking FT but a lot of our FT are complaining about this as well.

The only difference between part timers and full timers are ips sorting,All rounds are should be the same(They are in our office,give or take 15 mins) so why not just go from top to bottom with seniority? Regardless of hours worked.

In my opinion duties should be made up for the repick without the indoor element then a duty is a duty and it doesn't matter whether you are part-time or full-time you can still pick it.
However that is not how management like to roll because it means they have to think about aligning indoor work after the repick.They will say things like operational difficulties but how hard is it to take the indoor element from one duty and add it to another?
The bottom line is in most cases a part-timer cannot pick a full-time duty simply because management are too lazy.

You are totally wrong Fishtank.... Management can't be bothered to be Lazy...They've got better things to do... Plus they haven't got enough time to be lazy because they're watching Football highlights on their laptops and knocking off early...Just in case they bump into a Postie finishing his duty at 2 o'clock!
