Seniority when transferring to another office?

Hi.

I'm transferring to another office which is due a repick soon.

I've been told that I will keep my seniority from service at my current office, but THIS WILL NOT BE VALID FOR THE FIRST 6 MONTHS at new office.

This makes no sense to me, if it's a rule, it's a rule, albeit a senseless one; or is someone spinning me a line?

Me thinks your getting shafted! Is this 'rule' coming from the office your going to or from the office your leaving? Can I assume that you have a fair amount of Seniority?

No no no, it's one of our Deputy Managers or whatever they're called told me this, backed up by a grinning buffoon of a PHG.

I have a reasonable amount of seniority for a PTer, and was telling them that I was looking forward to getting a reasonable round at my new office.

I'm pretty sure judging from your responses above that this was an attempt at "humour".

It didn't make any sense to me, but it had me worried as it's the sort of nonsensical rule RM would come up with.

one thing to be aware of though, you said you were looking forward to getting a decent walk, but dont forget say a nice rural comes vacant, the whole office will get the oppertunity to sign for it before your transfer in, after any moves the resultant duty that becomes vacant will be the one you will get the oppertunity for

The posts will be filled on the basis of ‘most senior individual’. Where a part-time post is advertised internally, it will be available to all employees as above and filled in the same way.

14.5 The resulting vacancy will be temporarily filled by a reserve, a surplus employee, a transferee from within the wider resourcing area or another resourcing area or by direct recruitment in line with the process above.

I've been told there's over 10 positions vacant, I'm thr only one who's been on the transfer list for years, the others are new starters, all the vacancies are for floating cover 3 day week 25 hour rural singleton van duties

The revision is due to come in new office in next few weeks, repick after bedding in period, it's 99% sure I'l be in before repick.

I'd get seniority over the new starters? not many of the old boys gonna be sniffing after a 25hr a week rural driving duty surely?

couple off points, yes you would have seniority over the new starts, any existing staff will get first refusal over the vacancys before you, if in before revision and then repick happens after you have "moved" you will have your seniority
