not really a News item for everyone is it - will move into Blue shirts.

We had a few managers that flouted the rules and picked up posties work all the time over the last year or so. They were so good at it 2 of them were demoted and are now posties again!

the point is if a manager has not got enough management work to fill his or her hours then there is a surplus.

it would also be cheaper for you or i to do the job than somebody on £30k+.

the point is if a manager has not got enough management work to fill his or her hours then there is a surplus.

it would also be cheaper for you or i to do the job than somebody on £30k+.

I dont know about other DO's but we have 'Assistant Managers' who just get paid a suppliment when supervising (Which is everyday). I would guess is the same money saving con as pt postman doing 40+ hours a week. My point being when our 'managers' are taking out walks they are being paid normal rates so not more expensive.

Our DOM & Dim are always doing our work and have been for 2yrs ,
I often say about it but nothing is done,

Back to work monday after being 2 weeks off with dog bite, gonna be a shock to the system

At Bristol Mail Centre we had about 20 people from the offices upstairs forced to work on the floor sorting letters and packets some for their whole 8 hours. These people would be planners, customer account people etc. Has to be a way of saving money on agency casuals or is it to encourage them to leave. How could they afford to leave their usual job undone for a whole day ? Tuesday more that 5000 1st class packets left over, no junior managers lending a hand with sorting except saw one acting on £100 extra do about 30 mins towards the end. Wednesday looked like we were going to fail again so span breaker on £35000 and shift manager on £38000 did some sorting at end on £18/hour, their sorting speed was well worth the money.
