use of golf trolleys/ weight off the shoulder
We now have shared vans/trolleys in our area, am i right in assuming that this method of working was to take the weight off the shoulder.Because more or less everyone i know still continues with the old method of bag on the shoulder.

Use the trolley, save your back, ignore the others.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: use of golf trolleys/ weight off the shoulder
A golf trolley will never save your back or any other part of your body. To pull or push a weighted trolley means changing the shape of your spinal framework to cope with the pressures of getting the trolley rolling. This in turn creates stress on your shoulders, kneck and other joints. Over a prolonged period of 4-5 hours, day in day out, this will have tumultus effects on your physical well being. If they force me to get off my bike, then I will carry a bag with a couple of bundles in it, and keep replenishing. If it takes longer, so beit. I am not going to end up a cripple just to appease a disastrous change of delivery method.

Re: use of golf trolleys/ weight off the shoulder
I cant believe what i am reading,The trolleys have no weight to them atall,I can pull mine along with 2 bags clipped on with thumb and 2 fingers,NOTHING ATALL LIKE PULLING A GOLF TROLLEY,TRY IT AND SEE.
I usually have 1 bag packed with mail and another bag filled with the packets in order,Because the trolleys are so well designed it doesn't tip over.
So much easier with a trolley,I was dead against it at first when my bike went,Did a week of bag on shoulder then decided to try the trolley,Dont feel anywhere as near knackered as i did when the bag was on the shoulder,Even if they gave me my bike back i would carry on with my trolley,I might ask it to marry me in the summer i love it

Ive just consulted the oracle and its saying in ten years we will be using magic carpets due to taking weight off the elbowLincox wrote:A golf trolley will never save your back or any other part of your body. Actually i agree 100% with this post as that has been my experience of the LWT.Theghost wrote:I cant believe what i am reading,The trolleys have no weight to them atall,I can pull mine along with 2 bags clipped on with thumb and 2 fingers,NOTHING ATALL LIKE PULLING A GOLF TROLLEY,TRY IT AND SEE.

Apart from the marrying it bit obviously....
The new trolley's are a 100% improvement on the old gear and even a fully laden one never feels like 32kgs.
If you time your loops at around 40mins you never have more than around 16-20kgs in them anyway.I don't know what some of you are doing with them or putting in them but if used correctly on the correct terrain they are a piece of piss to use.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

But does it slow you down & stop you getting a flyer.
If so trolleys are sh*t and I wont be using one.

I have used the trolley on my delivery, on heavy days they do help but 90 percent of the time I carry my pouch. I think the trolley should be pushed rather than pulled at least you can see the wheels so they don't catch your ankle's , All in all they can help but they also slow you down.

is your walk flat as ours is all on inclines , and on the busy days it a nightmare to use. and when left starts to roll.Theghost wrote:I cant believe what i am reading,The trolleys have no weight to them atall,I can pull mine along with 2 bags clipped on with thumb and 2 fingers,NOTHING ATALL LIKE PULLING A GOLF TROLLEY,TRY IT AND SEE.

If they are overweight on busy days i would suggest that your loops are too big.worktotime wrote: is your walk flat as ours is all on inclines , and on the busy days it a nightmare to use. and when left starts to roll.
The new trolley's have a front "foot" that stops them rolling,if they are still rolling it must be a mighty steep hill in which case your planner, manager and rep are muppets because the LWT isn't designed for steep inclines and shouldn't have been planned for these duties.
