Stage 2 warning
I was off work from Nov 10 until march 11 with knee problems, bearing in mind still waiting for surgery at this point and was told i wouldbe given a stage 1 warning , (fair enough) however after returning to work after speaking to Atos Healthcare, who set me a rehab plan of 4 hrs a day, i was bieng abused by manager she had me runnig around like a loon causing my knee to swell like a ballon. So further referal to Atos who advised me to go back on sick and also rollocking from GP went back on sick. However manager is now wanting to give me a stage 2 warning even though was advised by GP and Atos not to be there. Is there any way i can stop this.
Thanks Kevin
Thanks Kevin

Re: Stage 2 warning
What was the actual rehab plan and what did you actually do?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Stage 2 warning
Was meant to be 4 hrs a day of light indoor duties only and no lifting, bending or carrying. However what i was infact doing was bieng a full PHG without the training, was made to walk from ips frame to callers office etc and made to do some lifting.

Re: Stage 2 warning
Tough one,it's something your rep if you're in the union will have to argue about.
You were made worse by being over worked.
Good luck but it will be tough, you know what the screws are like.

No...it's based on common sense. If we ignore the fact that they were not following the plan in the first place.POSTMAN wrote: 2 things,it says 'should' and is the wordings in any RM/Intranet doc.

If the only way that a member can return to work is through a rehab plan and that rehab plan turns out to be too demanding then you are in fact dealing with a continuation of the original condition, not a new condition so the application of two separate stages would be inappropriate.
It comes from this part of the attendance procedure relating to long term sick absence...
Before you start i know what Business interests mean but if a rep can't argue this black and white case there ain't much hope for him/her.Where his/her absence record is such that Personnel and the line manager consider it in the Business interests for that absence to be considered together with other absences as part of the review of his/her whole attendance at the appropriate stage of the Attendance Procedure, then it will be progressed under that procedure.

Yes.yodsaenklaikoba wrote:What happens when you get placed on stage 1 and stage 2 warning do you go for a short little interview or something?
Your manager has a printout of all your absences and the reasons for them.
Mostly they are wrong. The dates are wrong and the reasons are wrong.
Your rep reminds him that the Attendance Procedure is there to encourage good attendance, is not a substitute for the conduct code and the issuing of any stage warnings should not be mechanistic.
The manager ignores him and issues the stage anyway even when the absences relate to Accidents on Duty (AOD) or illnesses covered by the DDA.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Draft Joint Comms for Attendance Procedure
A key objective of the Business Transformation Agreement is to improve employee relations. Royal Mail and CWU are working together to review HR procedures, starting with the Attendance Procedure.
Discussions have been positive and constructive, detailed work is now commencing to produce an agreement which:
• Treats all employees with dignity and respect
• Moves away from an approach seen as adversarial with an emphasis on warnings to one which is intended to be genuinely supportive
• Emphasises early supportive action to help avoid absence becoming long term
Royal Mail and CWU believe that establishing a sensible and people focused approach to sick absence is a key part of improving working relations and we are all determined to bring discussions to a conclusion as quickly as possible.
Meetings will be taking place over the coming weeks to achieve this. We will communicate progress at the appropriate time as discussions progress
