Phonin in sick with a hangover?

I prefer to be honest where possible.

If I was to phone in sick with a hangover, would that get me any more grief than phonin in sick with "sickness and diarroeah" or whatever?

They do not question the genuiness of the absence just the the frequency, so i bet anyone with the balls to do it would get away with it. I won't be trying it though my sick record is s**t enough already.

We had a lad phone in sick with " works s**t and i can't be arsed " needless to say he didn't last long after that there is sometimes being too honest

So i'm assuming they would withhold the day's sick pay, but otherwise, I couldn't be sacked, or be forced onto a stage etc? It would go down as an absence to be considered in a future stage if it was triggered, but just that.?

Exactly, if, ahem, hypothetically, errm, someone got really hammered one night, then they wouldn't be fit to work properly and safely, nor transport themselves to work, or legally be able to operate a work vehicle.

You would be expected to get to work using safe legal means i.e....bus,taxi or lift.
Once you were at work it would be down to management to decide whether you were fit for duty or what kind of work you could do.
If you were pissed they could send you home,possibly stop your pay and conduct you.

When i was alot younger at RM (20ish years ago) my girlfriend phoned up for me and left a message to say i wouldnt be at work for the week. She was actually stood near me in a bar in malta and i was doing karaoke at the time. Got a late deal and just went off over the weekend. Not sure id risk it now though as they didnt phone you or try to contact you in those days.

I heard about a bloke doing same some years back except he did it from airport, unfortunatly for him while he was on phone the airport tanoy went off saying final call for passengers on flight so and so bound for malaga

I once phoned in at 3 am after coming in from night club pissed out mi brain left a message on answer phone, got up next day couldn't for the life of me remember what i said was up with me. doing my self cert just went with the old faithful of sickness and squits, I think they knew i was takin the piss

My DOM used to keep a piece of paper in his drawer with the correct spelling of diarrhoea,diarrhea...the runs.
