Are there any duties which are ring fenced after a revision or are all duties picked by seniority?

sometimes but not always,phg and driving/collections duties

we had our revision 2 months ago and the only duty that was ring fenced wasthe phg duty even the drivin duties went on the board for a re pick as we had 6 duties now we only have 3 drivers everything else went on a re pick good luck

is the phg a local agreement for some as we have always put all duties including phg in the mix,i think unless there is a medical issue for someone to have it over seniority then its just classed as a normal duty .i think most managers will try and pull a fast one as its easier for them not to try and train someone from scratch so they will just say it a specialist job and cant be given to just anyone.

for delivery offices duties that require specialist skills (e.g. locker) are usually ring-fenced. Consideration also needs to be taken of family-friendly hours and members who come under DDA. Those duties again may be created to accommodate their special needs so can be ring-fenced where necessary. All other duties created will be on Seniority as Way Forward Agreement.

bootleg i think mate it was our dim couldnt be arsed to train someone ,sayin that the phg has 26 years in so he would of got it anyway even if it went up on a repick.

Watch out for people claiming DDA to jump the seniority list. DDA means making adjustments to suit them. It does not guarantee them a duty until they are 65. We had one tosser claiming he could'nt do a walk- the dim gave him a driving duty. The tosser was okay to play football sunday afternoon though!

ALL DDA or Equality Act cases should involve an assessment and recommendation from ATOS.

Where an employee believes they have a condition which requires reasonable adjustments, the Atos Healthcare health professionals will assess the individual and identify whether they are likely to be covered by the DDA. Where appropriate, they will make recommendations about reasonable adjustments to enable them to perform their role.

The fact that you let your manager bypass this procedure doesn't say much for your rep.

after we'd done driver training we were told the 15 new shared van duties would have a full timer and a part timer. the end result about 10 fulltimers with 10 years seniority upwards don't get a pick. part timers with none do. our manager says seniority still applies where possible. won't tell you what i say

Well- my best advice would be to get a few lads together and come up with a plan that allows for seniority on the repick, but also allows for all the CDVs having at least 1 driver. After all no point in having a van with 2 non drivers sitting in it, they won't deliver much.

I am an non driver for RM. But I can see that it is a common sense approach for those that can drive to select their duties first, and the walkers 2nd (but both groups in their own seniority order). If a driver does not want to select a driving position then he goes into the walkers list at the appropriate seniority.

However, even this plan would fail if there were 20 driving duties and only 15 drivers out of 25 selected a driving slot - Would RM really allow a driver to stay in a walking slot

If however, there were more drivers than driving slots then the remaining drivers should drop into the walkers list at the relevant seniority.
