Why does flexible working ie working differant shifts, duties never affect senior/older staff members?

Not necessarily...
Senior man who can do the PHG's job has to because the PHG's are sick/off ect...
Senior man who's a driver has to be pulled off his duty as there is a shortage...

What exactly do you mean,give us some examples.

Maybe you are confusing senior postmen/women who actually have duties they have picked rather than newbie posties that have to constantly move around, we have all done it at some point.
Also there are plenty of postmen/women who are senior that get asked to do different duties, but if they have an allocated duty they can refuse to move.

Being a reserve is nothing to do with flexibility/flexible working.

Is that right you can refuse to move from the duty you signed for?
I signed for the Town floater 2 years ago and get moved all the time, when i say to DOM about it he just says " Flexibility "

No.
At times business requirements mean having to move even duty holders.
A flat refusal to move would be a very dangerous game to play.
What they can't do is move the same person all the time or constantly move people around for no apparent reason..
That would be unfair and would deserve a grievance.

Normally,in a run of the mill week peeps won't be needed to move unless a special job as mentioned before comes vacant because of sick.
Seems screws are playing the arse.
