Why we still work for RM?

Working for Royal Mail is laugh a minute, stayin on is fun. The management seem to come up with some laughable solutions and why i still remain a member of RM workforce. Keep it up rm.

Lets not forget our Union.

Apart from we don't get finished early as much as we used to.
And our union leaders eat too many pies

I stay because i still enjoy the delivery aspect of the job and the crack in the mornings

However its push, push, push these days with 6 lots of d2d's etc. I recon that iam fully working my time every day now so if they put on any more to the duty it just wont get done so in that respect it cant get any worse.

Billy could deflect some of the pie jibes if ordinary members saw more of him (or his actions).
We get infrequent letters to branches (a handful a year)
and as a reader of newspapers and a watcher of news i dont get the impression hes "out there"
putting our message across.
am i wrong?
maybe hes always having private meetings with government ministers

Because I USED to love the job, was quite happy to do it until I retired and could hold my head up in public because I thought I did a job that could be morally justified!
Over the last 3 or so years it has deteriorated very quickly, BUT I'm still labouring under the vain hope that things are going to improve.
Like most people I'm always looking around for something better and IF I could find something I'd be off tomorrow!
I've actually got to the point where I'm so fed up with be messed around I don't actually give a s**t anymore! Come in do the job...Go home!
Pity RM management Doesn't read this site, they might get some idea about what the workforce does feel.

might not be a skilled job but it still takes a lot more hard work than better payed skilled jobs

Ive heard a lot of people give this reason for staying at RM but normally these are people that have been there +5 years. Doesnt seem like a good reason in my opinion as most of these people seem intelligent enough to learn a new skill very easily and doesnt take that long really! could learn a trade easily in a couple of years and be earning much more.

Personally i have only stayed this long to clear some debt from not having a lot of work during the recession. Worked in construction before so was pretty screwed when the economy went down the toilet! Pretty much clear of that now so looking forward to giving my notice in next month

OK they are not paid per hour and have to be on 24 hr call 365 days a year but its unskilled at the start and its comparable in annual wages.

It shouldn't be it should be more, and I can call it unskilled as well -I was in the forces.
