As the father to a 3 year old i have to watch some really rubbish cartoons, but the one that really seems out there and not at all based on reality is Postman Pat. I know some of the episodes are from a few decades ago but was the job ever like that, rounds having 5 houses to deliver to, having all the time in the world to help/talk to your neighbors, no manager pressure, no lapsing, no door 2 doors, allowing pets in the van, kids treating you with respect and admiration. In the latest ones he does his specials from a helicopter who has a round like this?

Hey Moya where is my helicopter? Can i park and loop the loop with it.

We've had our helicopters for months now. Frankly it's not worth it - you don't get flying money and you're not allowed to distribute you D2Ds in one go from 5000 feet. Landing can be a problem too in an estate where there no greens. On the other hand you can get back to the office a bit sharpish when you've finished. It's the way ahead though so I suppose that we will all have to get used to it.

The lack of vegetables in most poor people's diet nowadays is a serious problem, causing many easily remedied health problems.
With the extra space in our bags/trolleys/vans/helicopters maybe RM should consider distributing leeks,Swiss chard, brussel sprouts, Savoy cabbage and asparagus - probably as a D2D.

I ve always prefered the "Postman Plod" version from Viz

Now there was some very good postie reality in that and i always felt that someone working on the mag must have been a postie at some time

I thought the Postman Pat Specsavers advert was quite realistic. We've a few in my office that advert could be based on.

yes it was like that i think i had 12 houses to deliver to when i started in 1989

I am currently trying to get a Motorbike and Sidecar for my walk. I have given up on the helicopter for now.

he no longer works for royal mail. he now works for special delivery services. he was dropped from royal mail because he no longer fitted in with there corporate image.

If Pat really worked for royal mail he would have been offered EVR and would have been replaced by a cheaper casual part timer who would be expected to do his whole walk in half the time with no OT!

Imagine it, Postman Pat being stalked from one end of his round to the other by a gang of smackheads threatening to remove his kneecaps with a screwdriver if he doesn't handover their giro.

Postman Pat getting mauled by 2 Rotweillers.

Postman Pat on his return to work from his injuries, told he has been given the sack for excessive sick leave.

Postman Pat is found dead, hung himself after suffering from depression.
