I open up at our office.Was talking to someone from another office,and they said there was an allowance due because of the responsibility of having the keys.Mentioned it to D.O.M. Got the usual "leave it with me". Anyone know if there is an allowance.And if so would it be backdated ?

Never heard of that one before,there's about 6 of us got keys for opening up in the morning out of about 24 posties.Only allowance i get extra is leadership if the Dom does'nt turn up if i'm in doing the PHG for the day.

Quite a few in our office have the keys to get in. No special allowance received by any of them.

I'm sure there is an allowance and i'm sure that it's been discussed on here before but i can't find it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Hope there is more than 1 of you there when your unlocking i assume there is only you should not be on your own security and safety just in case anyone is there or anything has happened.You just never know now adays.

Ive only had it twice due to only recently changing duties, the first time I had £4 and ?? pence and the 2nd time it was £6 and ?? pence. As soon as I have payslip Thursday I will put the amount gross and net on this thread.

Isn't it technically a supervisors allowance? Or maybe the acting PHG allowance?

I never got an allowance for it because it was expected with me being WPC. However, I pointed out on several occasions that I wasn't happy opening/locking up on my own in the dark. It wasn't so bad opening the office up because the first wagon and posties were usually there. But in the evening when everyone just wants to get home asap, I'd be there locking up, in the dark, with a cr*ppy council estate all around. I always had the keys "ready" if anyone was to try anything though :nervous
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?

No i don't read the daily lier,or the scum,or any other wapping lier rag oh and i don't watch crimewatch either,it's a good job that we down here take going to other offices or our own office to open up seriously as one of our chap's was jumped only it's only a rumour people nick bags of mail a lorry or van is full of the stuff. :roll:
