Cutting Off
I have no desire to work over my contracted hours, I have told the manager this on numerous occasions. Previously I felt a sense of loyalty to my customers but recently I have had my eyes opened to the "real" RM managers. Can someone explain the protocol of cutting off. My manager says I am supposed to ring him about 2 hours before I quit to tell him how much I am leaving. He also tries to tell me I have to do it all as the lighter days will make up for the heavier days.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Absolutely. I take it day by day, it`s not my problem if they don`t provide me with enough work to fulfill my 8 hours.

Should you believe that you will be unable to complete your delivery route by the end of your scheduled duty end time, you must inform your Line Manager.
While it's from an old doc the above is sufficient...This must be done at the earliest opportunity and no later than completion of delivery preparation and prior to pouches or trolleys being packed.

I am on a delivery where due to me doing the job properly I am going to be close to my time everyday, so almost every day I inform my lino that I 'may' have a problem and for him to ring ME if he wants to know how I am getting on.
Obviously they hate having to sort this out as they prefer you to work for free and they are trying all sorts of ways to bully me by counting my letters etc, but I am standing my ground because I know the problem isn't with me.
They can test me all they like, but I don't think I would have survived 18 years in RM if I was that slow. It's bullying and they know it.
Just do your job properly and just let them know politely before you leave the office that you may not complete and let them sort it out.

First thing i would say in reply is "do i book overtime for use of my own phone or are you going to supply me one?" ...getting fed up with how they expect you to use your own personal belongings for works use.
They seem quick to forget that these things cost money, it soon adds up over the year.

Today I was issued with a "serious warning" which will be on my record for two years. What did i do wrong, I acted in harmony with the conduct code and returned to the office with mail when my contracted hours were up. Needless to say I am appealing

My manager, and I use that term loosely, expects me to leave mail before I leave the office if I am going to be over my time. Bullying starting all over again, refusing to tell me how to do the delivery in the time. I`ve also had a "serious warning", managers can do what they like, apparently with impunity. This is peoples lives they are messing with, however, its given me a sense of freedom, I feel under no obligation to go over my time anymore.
