posties getting buses
we have now been told that we can now no longer get on the bus for free when going to start our deliveries. for years we have been able to get on the bus from the main operator in our city to get to our first delivery point as long as we have actually got mail on us but now we have been told that Royal mail has cancelled the contract and all posties will now have to pay just like everyone else! we can keep the tickets and claim it back out of petty cash but how long is the petty cash going to last like this and is this just another example of RM being in serious s**t?

I've heard rumours about this......been working for RM nearly 10 years claiming bus money is standard in my office.

Thats what happens here.... I believe RM pay out in the regions of £400/week. Some get individual tickets others get weekly passes depending on which is the most cost effective. I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

postman, that was prob in the 1980s mate.
we do pay for buses and claim it back, but just a tip for anybody p*ssed off with it....
request a trolley, and a driver will have to come out for you

In huddersfield we get issued with a "first" pass and use that to and from the delivery - this year have not turned up but so far only been refused by a jobs-worth once.POSTMAN wrote: Contract what contract

there were passes at our office years ago apparently, long before i jumped in.
now its just pay and claim it back.
a couple of peeps refuse to pay out of their own pocket and get the cash up front from our dictator.

We show our ID badge, the bus driver presses a button on his ticket machine and then again when we get off the bus and our boss pays the bill (i presume monthly)

A manager told me our office paid out £4500 a month to the bus companies (not anymore though, they cancelled the contract last week and it's now done from petty cash)

we get bus fares weekly, whether we get the bus or not, most do not.
