Policy on wearing uniform

What is the policy on wearing non RM uniform whilst working indoors?
Could you be conducted for wearing your own combat/cargo pants,despite the fact your not 'customer facing'
be interesting to know if we have anything in writing,or would it just be an unwritten rule.

Yes you are able to wear your own clothes in non customer facing roles,provided they are clean,in good condition, however no football shirts and you must wear a hi viz.
I work in a mc and many people wear there own gear, but i prefer to wear the free uniform,my wages are low enough without having to shell out on my own clothes and subsidising moya and her team

I was particularly interested in a female perspective,as Royal mail uniform is not especially flattering.

I suggest you contact the uniform manager in london or trawl a better site for info, that being the intranet, which has recent info. the ruling was relaxed on indoor staff having to wear uniform,however one can still request it if one wishes.
The document that is shown HAS been updated, this is not the correct re-order form and you cant request some of these items anymore, sorry i cant provide the new one as i dont keep one on my person or at my home - who would. !!!!

Sorry,just to intervene,i'm grateful for both your insightful and helpful replies.
The way i see it is, Perstop is correct in your interpretation that the dress code has been relaxed,though it would be interesting to 'see' a document that states this is the case.
But from the point of view of being in a delivery office,although your not even on a delivery,in my experience,the agreement which Fishtank has posted,would be the one the manager would use to conduct you.

Our DIMs got more on his plate to worry about than chasing people who don't wear uniform. Which is exactly the point I would make. I would then point out the majority of others in the DO who come to work looking like they've been dragged through a bush backwards.
Are you sure it's not just your Manager trying to find something to have a go at you about? Try putting it in writing pointing out any relevant points i.e "Everyone wears non-issue trainers" and then if he keeps having a go put in a grievance for H & B.
I try not to give them any excuse and look like a RM Poster Boy with my Hi-Vis, Visible ID, Cycle Helmet, Issue Footwear etc. At this point in time it's not worth giving the Bastards anything they can use against you.

Blimey - The was a comment on the fact that the site called it New Keep calm mate all we are asking is if you can provide a copy. Good idea about the Intranet problem is in DOs we cant get onto the computers to be able to download it - apparently you need a password and access - I have neither. Not to sure DOM would let me use his computer or the Lineos - they are the only ones that have access. I have asked in the past for a password but no joy.

Also don't think a London Uniform manager would entertain me calling him - I am in Yorkshire

Of course it's relaxed in the M/C...that's why it looks like a tramp's street party in there but different units have different interpretations of "relaxed" and the only joint CWU/RM dress code Agreement is the one i posted.

The person is the national uniform manager,who just happens to be based in london hq, therefore i see no harm in contacting them, thats what they are there for.
