cctv and grievences
Hi, I just want to ask if I can request/demand that the cctv camera recordings be viewed in relation to a grievence by me against a manager saying I was not in my work area. The manager insists I was absent and they saw me else where, but I never left my area. Please help...

have you formally raised a grievance?
if not you should do ASAP.
find out who the security contact is and WRITE (keep a copy) to the security contact of the date and time and location of the cctv you want.
i can bet mt last pound you won't get it though, but to prove your point, you will have to ask for it, and if they don't provide it - that could be a help to you - as the manager will have no proof - of what he accused you of!

All live footage recorded by a CCTV camera is considered under the Data Protection Act as processing personal data and therefore Data Subjects have a right to request all footage and images where they are featured.
In order to have CCTV cameras in a workplace you need to be registered with the Information Commissioner. In addition you should have signs on display informing employees of the fact that they are being recorded.
An individual has the right to request copies of all personal data relating to them including CCTV tape coverage, which must be provided within 40 days of receiving a written request.
