if we go on 5 hour deliveries what is the make up of the day

Let me tell you 5 hour deliveries will be REALLY tough. I am doing 4 - 4.30 hrs now and its hard going.

I will depend on what time your mail comes in and what contract you are on i guess.

A standard five-hour delivery week is as follows:

Monday - sh*t
Tuesday - sh*t
Wednesday - sh*t
Thursday - rest day
Friday - sh*t
Saturday - funeral

But 5hrs outside doesn't leave a lot of scope for the rest of the day inside for a full timer.Is it possible?

One member of the p&l pair on IPS and the other prepping the two shifts makes it possible.

If....and it's a big if you get what you are supposed to get sequenced....around 85% and "buddy flat trays"...then you don't need the bodies on IPS...so...

Some people may tell you exercise is good for you.........but walking on hard surfaces,up and down stairs,pulling/pushing trolleys or carrying bags for five hours,every day for years? I don't think you've got to be a genius to see it's going to have a detrimental effect to your long term health,just a pity the top brass of RM/CWU either can't see that or don't care!!

Probably on a standard 8hr day it would be...not on 8.45+hrs though.

Yes, anything goes wrong and it goes up in the air (MC not putting the walksorted mail in the first lorry is the main one for my office though).
But then if things go pear shaped, my manager gets his daily dose of fresh air

Park & loop you need to post your first letter a 09.30 and then you will struggle to get done on time to many specials,recorded,tracked, without them it is possible, we know what is wrong with ours but will they listen in a word no. oh i asked our dom what the ot was running at and its 26hrs a day just for excess and he is happy with that and its supposed to be quiet god help us if we get busy

of course it is, lets see. oh yeah come in early, work through your break take your households and put them together at home and that should do it.

Come hell or high water, there is no way you would catch me out delivering longer than 4hrs.
I physically could not do it, apart from being knackered (I'm currently on 3:30 with steep hills)
you need sustenance, fluids and a handy toilet!!

I've brought this up on numerous occasions with management and union, but it seems to go in one ear and out the other
like a magicians hanky!
