Return to work and sick forms

Post by hazzeem025 »

Hello just a quick question, Last time I was off sick in January my manager never got me to fill a sick form in and I never had a return to work interview either. Where do I stand with this as I asked for the form to fill in but he just never bothered handing one over? Seems a bit strange to be honest! Only just remembered today when somone was having a stage 1 warning interview!

The form is simply a self-certificate,although you should fill one in every time you are sick for less than seven days it does not form part of the attendance procedure.
The back to work interview should always take place but can take the form of an informal chat so if a manager asks you in passing how you are...he's basically covered the RTW...it doesn't have to take the form of an interview.
Neither can be used as a valid reason to avoid a stage warning.

Think ur wrong fishtank,I got off a stage 3 RTU When they realised i had never been given a return to work interview.

They make these stupid things up and when not followed correctly people like me get off with getting the sack,Which they would love to give most people with service over 15.

Well done for getting one over them but......
3. RETURN TO WORK DISCUSSIONS
When someone returns to work from absence the line manager must aim as soon as possible to speak privately and out of earshot of others with the person in a non-threatening and supportive way outside formal procedures with the following objectives:

· to acknowledge the employee's return and show it is valued
· for the employee to air any concerns
· to see if any help is needed and provide direction to encourage regular attendance
· to ensure absence is appropriately certified
