Help Needed

I am on a 25 hour contract and do a 40 hour week every week. I cover holidays and other days off etc. On my rota this week I was on 1 rural run for three days then another for 1 day then off on the friday then on another on the saturday. I have been sick of always doing other people favours etc and getting nothing in return, So I filled my frame for the days with households. 20% a day. I will be doing 20% on the other 2 frames. When I got back to the office today I was told by manager that it was not on what I did. I should have filled the frame and took out where I was going to. That would have meant I would have had to fill the whole frame and because we had a bulk mail out on Monday I would have taken the whole lot out myself. Then had to do the other 2 runs as well. The manager is on that run for the next three days and it would have saved him from doing them.
Then on the next breath he then he stated if I wanted to work to rule, he drop my hours to 25 hours.

Am I in the right for this and is my manager in the wrong?

Your manager is a c***, if you're on a duty for the monday, tuesday and wednesday then you do 3 columns of d2d to cover the 3 days (assuming a 6 column frame), how you do them is up to you, as long as those 3 columns are done by end of delivery wednesday you've done your job, end of, if you want to do them all on the monday and take where you are going that's your choice too, lazy c*** was just trying to get you to do his d2d for him, what a c***!

The management of d2d deliveries is down to local agreement, so you need to find out what your office d2d agreement is, oh and 20% per day was the old 5 day agreement, d2d are done over 6 days now

wrong on the D2D as others have informed you.

As regards dropping your hours this would be subject to agreement with your rep at the resourcing meetings that are due to take place each week.

Although you are a part time worker your post suggests that you only cover full time jobs, which is the RM way of saving money and pre planning for the dutch system, 1 full time to prep two walks and then delivery done by part timer.

Workout your average hours over the last 12 weeks and if it's more then 40hrs ask your rep to request that you need your hours increased accordingly. If they refuse to discuss this issue with him/her then the I/R framework should be used.

Not quite true, all depends on what the local agreement for the management of D2Ds are in the office, there is no nationally set daily percentage

In my office rurals put all their D2D in at the start of the week then take them where they are going through the week. This works ok because they do not have the weight on delivery issue and also have lower number of DP so less D2D to prep anyway. It saves having to cold call out of the way places with D2D later in the week. It doesn't work so well when you are being moved about all the time and other people take this piss constantly though. If your manager is saying this is what should be done in your office then you should have had no D2D to prep on the rurals you were doing on fri/sat and should have just been clearing up the odd drops which had no other mail though the week.

Depending on your revisions,or are you 8 hours on a Saturday?

If on a shorter Saturday then 1/5th per day
Longer Saturday 1/6th

Your frames should be marked,(yellow for Monday,Red for Tuesday etc). This solves your rest day covers,sick. Who ever is on the walk on THAT day knows what to prep.

The D2D should be prepped DOWNWARDS on your frames,not per street. This distributes the weight per day.

Check with your rep for any local agreements.
